Hi all,

We are three weeks away from a ten day trip, with two adults and two kids (8 and 4), and are second guessing some of our dining plans, mostly due to the feedback on the boards that the food for dinner at both Le Cellier & Be Our Guest are not worth the high cost. We are moderately picky eaters, and aren't interested in paying $50+ per head for a so-so meal. That said, our daughter is interested in Be Our Guest, so I think we need to work it into the plans, even if it's a QS experience. I've listed our current plans below, and two alternatives. I'd love to hear what you all think (or share another suggestion not listed below). Thank you all!!

Current Plan

Monday 12/3- Epcot Day
Lunch @ Festival of Holidays Booths
Dinner @ Le Cellier

Wednesday 12/5 - MK Day (last day of our 10 day trip, looking for a special dinner)
Lunch @ Columbia Harbor House, Pecos Bill or Cosmic Rays
Dinner @ Be our Guest

Alternate Plan #1
Monday 12/3- Epcot Day
Lunch @ Festival of Holidays Booths
Dinner @ Hacienda de San Angel

Wednesday 12/5 - MK Day (last day of our 10 day trip, looking for a special dinner)
Lunch @ Be Our Guest (QS)
Dinner @ California Grill

Alternate Plan #2
Monday 12/3- Epcot Day
Lunch @ Festival of Holidays Booths
Dinner @ Le Chefs de France

Wednesday 12/5 - MK Day (last day of our 10 day trip, looking for a special dinner)
Lunch @ Be Our Guest (QS)
Dinner @ Citricos or Narcoosee's

Other restaurants we are going to, just for reference:
Ragland Road
Flying Fish
Spice Road Table
Rose & Crown
Tusker House
Jiko
Tiffins
Skipper Canteen
SciFi Dine In
Brown Derby
Homecomin
Liberty Tree Tavern
Yak and Yeti
Satu'li Canteen

On your Dec. 5th day, I’d do lunch at BOG and dinner at California Grill.

BOG lunch you can order what you want from the menu, or share an entree or two. It doesn’t have to be too expensive if you’re just going for the experience. California Grill dinner was our best meal/experience on our last trip. :)

I agree with Disneylover99. On Dec. 5, I would do BOG lunch and dinner at Cali Grill. The view there is stunning and I think it will be a nice way to end your trip.

I agree with changing Le Cellier. You are eating at some really great signatures and, while it's good, Le Cellier will probably pale in comparison and there is no need to spend that kind of $$ on a mediocre meal. Of the two restaurants you mention, I would do La Hacienda. I find the food at Chefs to be really salty, though the atmosphere is lovely.

thanks for the feedback, and great to hear CA Grill was your favorite. We'll keep that in mind!!

Sounds good, and we are big fans of Mexican, so Hacienda may be a good option for us. I really was looking forward to doing Le Cellier after the Candlelight Processional, especially with the decorations up, but I've read too many reviews lately that really are making me second guess this. I'm still tempted (warm pretzel bread with butter and some canadian beer sounds like my perfect appetizer), but a mediocre steak at those prices will be hard to get over. Maybe we can play that by ear, since I believe Hacienda will be easy to get into that day, or the day before. The CA Grill/Be Our Guest plan will take some consistent stalking of the WDW reservation pages, and some good luck since we are only a few weeks out. thanks again!!

We love Le Cellier, especially the beer cheddar soup. It is a steak house and super expensive, but I think the food is good.

Well now, see?! These are the kinds of comments that make me want to keep my reservation at Le Cellier.

Agree about BOG for lunch - theming is really well done and your DD will love it - feel free to wander around and take photos! Also, at lunch you get to pick which of the rooms you want to sit in. If you do not yet have a reservation, they can be tough to get - you can start watching the December Cancellation thread on restaurants forum on here to see if someone is dropping one and try to coordinate, or sign up for Touring Plans (free account) and use their Reservation Finder that will alert you with a text if one pops up for your day. And if you don't get it before you leave check the day or two before, especially at night, as people cancel to avoid the fee. If you are going to then cancel your dinner at BOG , you could post it on the Cancellation thread as well to try and help out someone else! If this is new to you, feel free to ask if you need help with any of that(and if not, sorry for extra info.!)

We are also LeCellier fans, especially DH and DS who are big steak fans and that is their one must-do splurge meal every trip(luckily we have managed a lot of free dining, but still 2 credits!) and swear by the mushroom filet - cuts "like butter" they will say! It is a little dark, but part of the cellar atmosphere, and tables are close together, but we weren't uncomfortable. In fact, we ended up hearing table next to us tell waiter they were from NJ, and wearing Eagles Jersey which we figured was South Jersey, so we asked what part, and they were a few towns over, and the husband had grown up with my SIL! DS and friends even ended up making a reservation there on senior trip this spring, even though it was expensive, and said it was the best meal they had all week, and one girl commented that it was the meal she had been waiting for all her life!(at the ripe old age if 18:laughing:) We had friends go there and then try Yachtsmen, which many on here like, and they wanted to go back to LeCellier, so I think it's one to try once to see with so many opinions!
