DD8 got her Wii from santa today and is thrilled! One problem...we can't get it to work!! The controller will not turn to a hand and work past the game menu screen. We were able to enter set-up info, but now nothing else. We have unplugged and replugged, reset, tried different games, and turned all off and then back on. Yes, it's the right controller, and yes the batteries are good. The home button works and left right button, but nothing else.

HELP??? I have one sad and frustrated little girl and I don't know what to do to fix it.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!

Never had that problem or heard of that problem so far. Not sure what else to try that you haven't already.

Try posting in the Official Wii FAQ thread on the Budget board - lots of people in that one that might can help.

Ahhhhh!!!!!!!!! Sorry. Jsut about to pound my head into the wall so far with this thing.

We got the problem resolved with ONE remote and are now working ont he other. Now we have an added problem since we've tried to put another game in, it does not appear in the menu.

Thanks so much for your help.

I hope everyone is having a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!

And I am heading over the the BB now to check out that thread. THANK YOU!

The Nintendo site has a FAQ section on the Wii page. I had to reference it when I set up our Wii last year.

Wow...this is the easiest system to set up in the history of systems.

Did you figure out the sensor bar? Also you have to set the remotes up to your system. It is in the manuel how to do so.

Thanks - found that and that is where I had my issue resolved. This was a great site. They don't have anything however for our now new disk issue.

There was an actual problem with the remote, not our set-up of the system itself. The sensor bar wasn't as issue at all. We fully understand how to set up the system, however there are issues that arose which were not making sense NOR outlined in the manual.

Thanks.

Problem resolved. Thank you everyone!

No manual - just plain old fashioned research. Now off to PLAY!

Wii system updates are required before playing some games, like Super Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. When loaded into the disc slot, an icon on the disc channel that says "Wii system update" appears. After selecting the channel, the Wii will automatically update. If these updates are not installed, the games will remain unplayable until the update is installed, as each time the channel is loaded with the game inserted, the update prompt will appear, and choosing no will return the player to the main screen of the Wii instead of loading the game.

This is the only channel that cannot be moved across the Wii Menu.
