Please help with a ps ques. for July 4th!

We are arriving at the AKL on July 4th. We won't be going into the parks that day but really want to see the MK fireworks. What's our best chance to see them? Someone posted earlier that they check ID's on the Poly beach (I was planning on eating at Boma's then going over to the Poly beach to watch the FW). Should I try and get a PS for Narcoossee's or take my chances on the Poly beach? Also, do they show a special FW at a different time or is the regular FW better than normal?

If you have your heart set on seeing the fireworks I would make a p.s. for Narcoosee's, California Grill, or Ohana in the Polynesian if you can get the p.s. for the right time. We've dined at Ohana and been encouraged to walk around the property and to the beach to see the fireworks but it was at a slow time of year. I remember reading posts from last year and from people who were there on July 4th and apparently they had HOARDS of people who came to the Poly Beach on the 4th and they had so many complaints from Poly guests that they started checking resort ID's and were turning those not staying at the Poly away.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but it's better to be prepared ahead of time.

Thanks for the info. I wonder how making a ps for Chef Mickey's and going out on the 4th floor observation deck to see the fireworks would be? Do they usually show wishes at 9:00 P.M.?

If you plan on trying to see the fireworks from a MK resort, make sure you have a PS at one of the restaurants. Security is also known for turning people away on July 4th, if you don't have a ressie or a guest at one of the MK resort. They do it to keep the crowds down at the resorts, and to avoid illegal parking. Also, Wishes is usually at 10PM during the summer.

Edited to add: If you do make a PS for July 4th, be aware that you'll need to secure the PS with a credit card. If you don't cancel the PS 48 hours before, and don't show up, you'll be charged a $10pp no show fee. Disney now does this for all holiday PS's.

We did that last year and it worked out great for us. They pipe in the music on the observation deck and the view is great. It was crowded so i guess lots of people had the same idea. This year we will be staying at the contemp on the 4th so we will be watching the fireworks from somewhere on the property.

As I've posted before, we always eat at Narcoossee's on the 4th (except this year because of a stupid golf tournament that my fiance's in). The view from the veranda is beautiful and restricted to only those with priority seating. The food is delicious and don't worry about getting a window seat. When the fireworks are about to begin, everyone in the restaurant goes outside to watch. There is security posted around the restaurant. This is the best place to view the MK fireworks, IMO. Make sure you make your PS 90 days out (which is coming up rather soon).
