Please help!!! Which would be easier to do?

We think we might have to do a split stay at AKV and BCV next May/June in a 2 BDR. We own at AKV and SSR and have the points to book AKV's 5 nts at 11 months out and then book 5 nts at SSR to be switched to BCV at 7 months if possible. We also could just switch the SSR to AKV if available too. (Nothing against SSR but we are staying there in December!)

My DH's preference would be to stay in one place, either AKV or BCV or even BWV but will do the split if needed. If we do get BCV or BWV (preferred b/c I don't think standard will be available) for the whole stay we'd have to cut out a night. I know the kids prefer BCV at this point but they've never stayed at AKV either. They don't mind doing both so that they can stay longer!! My DD would like to stay AKV first and then BCV (pool, location).

Our dates are from check-in Weds. 5/27 to check-out Saturday, June 6. There are many scenarios that we could choose, even switching the number of nights from 5 each to 6 and 4 etc.... The number of points I have available for AKV is 195 and 250 for SSR.

So I could choose

5 nts at AKV 5/27 - 5/31 and 5 nts at SSR 6/1 - 6/5

or 5 nts at SSR 5/27 - 5/31 and 5 nts at AKV 6/1 - 6/5

or 4 nts 5/27 -5/30 SSR and 6 nts 5/31 - 6/5 at AKV.


My question is about which nights do you think would be easier to switch out to BCV at 7 months, given the new way to reserve? Also, could there be a different combo that you would try? Or maybe I'm worried about nothing?

Just my opinion, but I don't think any of your dates would be a huge problem since they are after Memorial Day weekend, bur before many schools are dismissed for the summer.

Are your dates at all flexible? If so, I think the best chance to stay at BCV (using the 7 month window would be the nights of 5/29 -6/2). Since you have the 11 month window at AKV, I don't think 6/3 - 6/8 would be hard to get, even if you had to waitlist (which I doubt would happen).

I'm thinking that the higher weekend points will deter some from trying to start their stay on a Friday, so you might get a couple of days "head start" on the ones who want to check in on Sunday. It will be a while before we can predict 7 month booking - have to wait and see how many members who continue to do day by day for 7 month reservations.

P.S. I'd be tempted to try to get the whole thing at AKV in Kidani, which I think will be open by then. In addition to not having to move, if your kids happen to fall in love with the BCV pool, you could be stressing out over this every time you visit! Who needs that? Better they should love where you own, right?

Thanks so much for your opinion! I was hoping you would let me know what you think!

My kids already love BCV pool as we have stayed there many times. We usually go in September so I've never had a problem booking DBD at 7 months out for BCV 2BDR dedicated 2Q. While I'm not relishing the thought of moving, I would like the kids to experience their home at AKV (my DD and I were just there and she loved it but not the pool). I am hoping Kidani is open by then but I really liked the lodge!

Anyway, I think I will book SSR for the first part with the hope that we can switch to BCV covering the time period you suggested and end at AKV.

We would be okay with the dates of 5/29 - 6/7 but I would have to check the points out for that range.
