I was just on the USO/IOA web site to check out the parking prices. I found regular parking ($10), preferred (price not given), and valet ($16). Is it worth the extra few bucks for valet? How much is preferred, and is it really close to the park? What do you do and which should I do? TIA, Melissa

Preferred is a rip-off; an extra $4 to skip an escalator or two. (In fairness, it used to be an extra $4, not sure since they raised the price again.)

Valet is somewhat closer (maybe 3 or 4 minutes of walking)--it's downstairs from the rotunda, if you have been to US before. I have always found it a pain to get to the handful of times I have used it. You still have to walk through all of CityWalk to get to the parks, which is longer than the walk from the top floor to the valet, for comparison's sake.

yeah I would recommend staying on site at the Royal Pacific or others, there are so many more advantages to that, the parking being one of them, but the fast pass and just the whole experience of being there is worth it. The hotels are great and they're right there. Taking the boat or walking in from the hotels is part of the majic in my opinion. Plus you get window views of the parks is so awesome. Its a little more but def worth it in myopion

I think valet parking is worth it but preferred parking, in my opinion, is not worth the extra cost.

Well I leave Friday for WDW and we are staying on site there, so I guess it is a little late. But thanks anyway!

Thanks for the info., it really helps! :thumbsup2

Have fun and use regular parking. The walk isn't that bad and there are moving walkways with cool music playing. Your experience of IOA/USF will be good, but just remember it could be much better when you stay at one of the 3 onsite hotels. Many people drive up from Disney, visit the Universal parks, then say they're just "ok." The other big piece of advice I always tell everyone, is the parking garage opens at 8am. Arrive at this time and you won't wait in line to park, and you'll get 2 hours of walk on rides. The crowd arrives at 11am, so it's really worth it to show up early. Those who show up at 11am post really bad trip reports.

we use regular parking only. just take a second to remember what section, level, and row you parked in. the garages are massive.
