please help w/ Free Dining??

Ok I need help! This is our first time staying on site and we have free dining, so I need lots of help!
How much money will I need to take with us for food in the parks? It will be me, DH and DS4.
I know I will need money to tip the servers, some posts I have read are about putting the tip on your key. Will I need to give the server my key to use the Free dining or do you get a separate dining card?
How much are things like dole whips? because I know my son will what more than one snack a day! He is a BIG eater!

There is so much food you may have trouble even using the snack credits you get , many people end up the last day spending them on items to take home, we use ours the last day at the food and wine fest but we go last week in Sept. Here is a link to the restaurants on the DDP (scroll down) click on the restaurant and it will take you to menus with prices.
Same card for DDP and charge back to room, scares me so I will take cash.I don't even like putting any charge privilages on the DDP card.
Better make your ADR's now restaurants are going fast and don't go there thinking you will get in walk-up.

I think you will enjoy taking a look at menus. All ears has each dining place listed (whether cs, ts, or snack) and gives the price. You can easily estimated the amount of tip you will need by looking at these prices. Buffet is easy. For others, just guess what you might like to order for entree, desert, and drink.

That is what I already did, I have a list of what I guess we will eat and from that what we will leave for a tip and will only take that much cash with us in tha parks.

We normally only stick $20 in our pocket for spending money and use our key to the world for the rest.

As far as snacks go, if DS is a big snacker and you are not, you can use your snack credits to buy snacks for him.
