We are very excited for our first stay at Vero next month - yeah! We are 2 adults and 2 kids (ages 3 and 7).

DH wants to get feedback on the following restaurants that are available on Restaurants.com:

Riverside Cafe
Marotta's Restaurant
Southern Comfort Grill
Amalfi Grille

How close are these restaurants to Vero resort?

Thanks for any feedback, Tiger :)

went last summer and i would recommend squid lips restaurant - great views across the water and about 15/20 mins drive from vero in sebastian

I've said it before, and I'll say it again.. The Ocean Grill is one of my favorite restaurants ---> Not only in Vero, but anywhere.

That said, it's not the best for kids. It's a great place for an adult dinner.

PS- Don't forget to ask for some horseradish on the side if you order shrimp cocktail. The sauce is basically ketchup.

VB has a list of restaurants at the resort. Three casual restaurants we enjoy are: TooJays, Waldos and Captain Hiram's.

TooJays has good home-style cooking, great desserts and servings large enough to take some home with you and all at very reasonable prices.

Waldos is ocean front dining inside or out.

Captain Hiram's is on the Indian River with dining inside or out.

The VB front desk staff also recommended Captain Hiram's to us. We were very happy with the restaurant, our meals and the service there.

Deja Vu, lol. :)

I second this. My family and I went there earlier this month and I loved Squid Lips. The view was cool, the place is layed back and the food and the price was good. I had the tuna steak sandwhich with a hunny/lime sauce on it and it was lovely.
Two adults and two kids ran between $30 and $40.

Thanks all. I have heard of all of the restaurants you mentioned, but haven't heard of the ones listed on Restaurant.com, except for Ocean Grill, but we can't eat seafood. So, I'll let my hubby know, and won't purchase any of those certificates.

We have the Pirate dinner for our 1st night, but not sure what else for the next 2 nights?

Tiger :)

Tell your DH Ocean Grill has really great steaks in addition to their seafood entrees. It's the only place my husband and I order steak. We get the large NY Stip (balckened, cajan) and split it. It comes with two sides, we get salad and the pecan rice. Then we order the creamed spinach ala carte. Delicious.

Riverside Cafe is one of our top favorites for casual local seafood. Just ate there yesterday and have their Sailfish T-Shirt on as we speak LOL Located waterfront under the Rt 60 Bridge, the Cafe is attached to a small marina and tackle shop. It is very casual, laid back and a locals spot. The Cafe has a nice little brunch for less that $20 on Sundays. You may want to dine earlier in the day if bringing young children. They hold quite a number of a small events.Just checkout the website. There is live music on some days and it can get very busy depending on the band and who shows up. It is not a large building and the bar and stage is open to some(but not all) of the dining area. Not trying to steer you away just an honest opinion.Sorry have not tried the other three you listed. Hope you enjoy your stay and wherever you end up dining at. pirate:

everybody has different opinions. I think squid lips is OK, and I think Mr. Manatee is OK, but I really actively dislike Capt. Hirams. I like orchid island pizzeria for that matter.
