DH and I are booked at the Pop Century for our "adults only" fall getaway trip, at the end of October. But today, DH suggested that we might be happier at a resort closer to the Magic Kingdom, or even on the monorail, because we plan on spending most of our time at the Magic Kingdom, and Epcot. Not sure if we'll even make it to MGM or AK this time.

After staying at the Wilderness Lodge concierge and Polynesian lagoon concierge this past summer, we feel that either of those resorts would be great. We really loved both resorts. However, I am tempted to try out the new rooms at the Contemporary. I understand that all of the rooms on the 10th floor are done now, and this is where the concierge "light" is located. Is this correct? Other than the idea of staying in the new rooms, the overall resort does not appeal much to us. Although, I have always wanted to stay in a tower room, since I first visited WDW as a child. lol Not sure if this is enough of a reason to stay there now though! :scratchin

Our other choices would be to decide if we want to stay at the WL or the Polynesian, and if we want to stay concierge or not. Big price difference, obviously.

I have not gotten price quotes for the Contemporary tower yet, but here are the AAA rates I got today, for the other 2 resorts, for 4 nights, including taxes:

WL woodsview $1,061.

WL concierge $1,583.

Polynesian garden view $1,418.

Polynesian garden concierge $1,824.

Polynesian lagoon view concierge $2,328. **UPDATE- THIS IS THE WINNER!** :sunny: We changed the reservation!!

Deciding factors are basically location and price. We can afford the highest (Polynesian lagoon concierge) but not sure we need to do that on this trip since we don't plan on being at the resort much. But we do love the resort itself, and the excellent location. We love the Wilderness Lodge, it's much less money, good transportation (we like the boat to the MK), but it's not on the monorail. We also will make use of the concierge services, that's why we're considering concierge again for this trip, but concierge is not a must-have.

Please help us decide, and include your reasons for voting the way you did. Thanks! LOL

SeaSpray,

Only you can know if you are the kind of person who always likes change--always wanting to try something new--you become almost "bored" with revisiting things you have once enjoyed. Or, are you are the kind of person who loves the feeling of "coming home" to something you already love? My DH LOVED staying at the Contemporary Resort as a little boy. He really has no desire as an adult to stay there, however, when he sees his current options. The CR does not fit our general personality. We like charm, warmth and coziness. We do like to visit the CR, though, for dining, the arcade and shopping.

Have fun deciding. I'll be waiting to see what you do!

PS. I think since you've already done concierge at both hotels going for the view might be romantic.

I want the none of the above option ;)

I love being able to walk, so I voted CR. However, if you are going to epcot as well as mk, then I guess I would check out the poly.

Seaspray - I voted for WLC for the "quite" factor. WL is very peaceful to me. Just a reminder that the Food & Wine Festival is happening at Epcot. Have you ever stayed at the Yacht Club (quieter than BC). Something different than your last trip and the walk to Epcot is great! Have a great time!

I voted for the CR concierge light option. The location is nice you can either walk or take the monorail to MK and then you can monorail to TTC and transfer to Epcot easily. Also you will be able to use some of the concierge amenities and get to try out a new resort with hopefully new rooms :)

Thanks for the votes and comments so far :) When I first posted this, I left out the word "concierge" in the list of prices, when listing the Polynesian lagoon. Wow, $2328 for just lagoon view would be a little high ;)

Wow Terry - you really do Love WDW!

I'd stay WL courtyard (but then again I just Love the WL. Like the Poly too). Its easy enough to take that boat to the Contemp to get the monorail or walk over to MK
Definately make AR at Poly

or you can upgrade your rooms on DCL next Aug?!

I voted for CR, but I agree, only if you can get a new room, because I think it would be nice to try something new since you were just at WL and Poly. Plus, the transportation is great at CR, and restaurant options are good there.

My second choice, if you could not get one of the new rooms on light concierge, would be WL. I agree with other posters that the quiet atmosphere would be nice for just the 2 of you, and it WILL be cheaper than Poly.

Good luck whichever choice you make! I wish I could jump in your suitcase and go too!

Wish I was having your problems!!! I love all these resorts. I think that maybe for that adults only trip it might be nice to be at the Polynesian. Such ease getting to both MK and Epcot. Food choices are pretty good. I voted for garden view since I'm not a huge concierge person. But I love the CR also...didn't think I would but after staying there I really changed my mind. I would also have to agree with someone else's suggestion of an Epcot resort. BW and YC/BC are both terrific....great choices for adults.
But keep in mind that I have yet to stay at a Disney resort that I didn't like. There are good things about each one of them.

I'm not sure how long you're staying, but for what I'm guessing is a short trip (where you'll be spending a lot of time outside the room), I voted for the cheaper option, the WL woods view. You'll still be convenient to the MK (though no monorail), and the WL will give you that "fall-ish" feel.

I voted for Poly garden Concierge. The diff for $400 is nice, going from stardard garden to concierge, but I don't think the lagoon view is worth the extra $500. It'd be nice to have the lagoon view (and who knows, they might just upgrade you at the front desk) but $500 is a lot to see the Wishes fireworks from your balcony (maybe once).

Well, you can't lose. All of the choices are wonderful. :sunny: I voted for the Contemporary so that you can try something new. Since it will be a short trip, you won't be too disappointed if the resort does not meet your expectations.

I voted Poly GVC. The CR does nothing for me! You'd get to experience the new rooms at Poly and perhaps new/improved lounge. I think you'd appreciate the convenience of the direct Epcot monorail there with the F&W fest. And...I want someone else to be as "brave" as me and go from LVC to GVC. :teeth: And I am one of those "going home" folks who is looking forward to my beloved Poly.

Have you considered BWI CL? I've heard great things about their concierge and you may find it convenient for F&W Fest.

What dates are you going? Will you be going to MNSSHP?

Thanks for the comments and opinions :wave2:

As of now, I think I am leaning towards either the Wilderness Lodge concierge, or the Polynesian garden concierge. We had the best view the last time in Polynesian lagoon concierge, but since this trip is mainly to do the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, we really don't need that view again from our room. We will not be in our room on any night to see the fireworks; we plan to be out in one of the parks.

DH really does not like the idea of the Contemporary resort, even after I showed him the pictures of what the new rooms will look like, so I think that the Contemporary is out of the running.

We already have plans to meet some DIS/VMK friends for dinner at 'Ohana on one evening, and on our last morning I want to take DH to Kona Cafe for a late breakfast because he has never had Tonga Toast before :teeth: We'll eat dinner at the Kona Cafe on another night, too. This is why I am thinking that the Polynesian would be the most convenient, (but also the most expensive). But we DID love the Wilderness Lodge concierge too! And we did enjoy that boat ride to the Magic Kingdom. :boat:

Arg, can't decide. :scratchin We've given ourselves until the end of next week to make a decision and change our reservations. :hourglass

It will be a little strange to go to a garden concierge room, after being in the lagoon view room, but I'm sure we'll survive ;) (If we decide on the Polynesian, that is).

We have considered the Epcot resorts, and I think we may be going back in early December, and if we do, we'll definitely try an Ecpot resort on that trip :)

Our dates for this trip are October 28 - November 1. Just 5 days, enough for an adults-only getaway, without feeling too guilty about leaving DSs at home! :earboy2:

Terry I voted for the poly concierge but to be truthful I love BWI concierge so therefor in Oct. I am staying there. like you I probably wont go to MGM and AK but I'll spend most of my time at Epcot for the food and wine festival :sunny: What dates are you going? :earsgirl:

We'll just miss you. Coming home 10/23-in time to post about the new rooms before you leave if you choose Poly GVC.

I'm just back from 3 nights at ASMo with just my DS(4 1/2). We had a great trip-that 4th night would have been really great but I was missing my girls (6 & 2 1/2) and DH so I was "almost" ready to come home. You should be able to see quite a bit in 5 days without strollers. :teeth: I can't wait to go on my longest Disney trip yet 9 nights!
