Please help this dummy regarding point transfers!

OK, I admit it... I have been a DVC member since 1999, and point transfers are still a mystery to me.

I have a friend who wants to go to WDW next year. I just can't see her spending all that money on a regular hotel room when I could get her spectacular accomodiations thru DVC for the exact same price. However, I don't have any points to give her... Can you tell that we go to WDW too often?!

Anyway, I would like to look into how to arrange a point transfer. Can some one expain this to me as if I were a 2 year old? I'd really appreciate it.

Even after all this time on the boards, I am still leary about renting points. I figure that a point transfer would be a litte "safer" since I don't have to worry about her reservation being cancelled. Am I correct?

I feel like I should be more trusting of all you great people... and I think if it were my own money, I wouldn't worry as much. But I don't want something major going wrong with her vacation due to my advise.

the way to transfer is to agree with another DVC member on how many points you need and how much per point. First you need to know how many points the vacation you need will be. I have transfered with pay pal and it worked well. You need to do much like a rental, but you get the points into your account and you set up the reservations after the points are in there. After you set up how to pay for these, the seller of the points will need to call ms and tell them to transfer x amount of points to your account. Once you do this and they are in there, then you do what you want with the points. They are yours.

I have mine all accounted for, for a vacation this summer. I don't really know who is the best ones to try to get transfers from. You can always ask for references or if you pay with pay pal, you should be protected in the transaction. goodluck,
