We are planning a trip for OCtober 10-16. My problem is that I can not find any good air fare prices. Delta is $212RTand going up day by day :hourglass . SWA is $284RT. I have been watching ding for the last 4 weeks. Should I wait and see if the prices go down or just book them now and suck it up. We are flying out of Nashville. :confused3

tinkerbell, I'm having the exact same dilemma as you. I'm going 10/15-10/23 - I'm going to wait a little longer.

Same here.... hoping to fly SWA from Buffalo... every tuesday I open my click and save e-mail... only to be sadly :guilty: disappointed... then I hear DING... and see everywhere BUT BUF to MCO.... almost ready to chance it with Airtran from Rochester...

Later,
Paul

I'm proud to see that I am not the only one having this problem. I hope that SW will have a sale soon, before we all go crazy.

llyolf: We are flying out of Buffalo as well in October (22-28). I have been doing the same game, watch and wait. Last year we went to WDW in October and did not buy our tickets until the beginning of September. It cost us $310 round-trip for 2. I know right now AirTran out of Buffalo is $311 round-trip for 2, for our dates in October, but we would rather have a non-stop flight on SW. Back to that wathing and waiting game.......

From what part of KY are you travelling to Nashville? Are the Lexington/Louisville airports closer? I haven't priced it out, but it might be cheaper to fly out of either of those airports.

edited to add: I haven't seen a Nashville Ding, ever. If there has been one, it either wasn't worth booking or it's been a long time ago.

We are from the Bowling Green area. Last week we could have flown out of Louisville for $105RT. But other people in my party didnt want to drive all the way up there. Its about a 2 hour drive. I thought that was a great deal.

I would have jumped all over that--we are in the E'town area, and have driven to Nashville (about 2 hours) for cheap airfare. This year we are driving to Indianapolis because it is so much cheaper, especially with the price of gas these days :confused3

I must have missed $105RT out of SDF last week--was it on Southwest?

fterie4u: luckily I am pretty much the same distance from Rochester as Buffalo... Airtran does nonstops from ROC to MCO... so I may have to settle for that.. probably no singing FAs on Airtran though...

Yes it was SWA I think it was a ding on Friday.

well, shoot. I'm sorry I missed that one! I'd much rather fly out of SDF or BNA than Indianapolis. Maybe it will pop up again, soon!

Thanks for starting this thread. It's nice to know there's others who are waiting on SW to lower their October fares. I'm hanging in there because I find it hard to believe they won't have a great sale in September.

Same dilemma here in Tulsa. I love Southwest, I hate Southwest, I love Southwest, I hate Southwest. (in other words, for Tulsa they moderate, thus control the lower airfare. If they ain't cheap, nothing's cheap) Kind of like, if momma ain't happy, no-one's happy. :goodvibes

Me too! A question - if the flight I want, the promotional rates are all full, does anyone know if the fun fares will drop if the promotional rate drops? I'm driving myself crazy trying to get good flights - early on the way down, late afternoon on the way home. I'm getting just the opposite for the lower prices.

I just downloaded DING - does this really give you better rates that the emails? Do they just pop up randomly or is it certain times?

Thanks!

Put me on the waiting list too for Missouri to Orlando for October 15-21. Late June or early July they had $186 RT which isn't a bad fare. Usually we can get it for $150 RT or less except during spring break. But since I felt they would have better fares and I had ticketless travel vouchers to use before next March and this is the last trip for us before then, I decided to wait. They did come out with $136 RT from STL-MCO but just for Sept and then last weekend they had the same fare for the last 2 weeks in August so I'll keep hoping. We are fortunate that we can fly in or out of Kansas City or St. Louis.

Guess we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed. Good luck everyone!

Donna

Don't rely on DING. I've gotten lower rates on the regular reservation system. I think it may work if you are getting close to trip date but from what I've seen so far the promotional rates are always lower than the DING rates. I'm trying to decide if I should take the $69 rate for my Oct/Nov trip or wait a little longer for it to go down to $59 or $49. I already rebooked my Sept trip at $49 each way so I have a $60 credit.
You can always try to rebook if a lower rate comes up because they will issue you a credit that is good until 1 year after the original purchase date. You just have to keep track of your old reservation numbers until the credit is used up.

We are from the Bowling Green area.

Off topic, but I had to say HI! I went to college at WKU (many, many years ago). Did a senior year internship in Louisville and drove that drive every week to work in BG on the weekends. Good luck on a Decent Fare!

Hi all! we are october 15-21 amd we are still waiting on airfare too! we are out of ord (ohare)!! good luck to us all!

Yeeee haaa!!! $49 from Buffalo today... it wasn't a ding... it was Click'n'Save e-mail.... woohoo!!!
