Please help save my watch

Trivial in comparison to some requests, but budget-related

I have a bangle watch that I love, but apparently I'm allergic to the metal in the band. I don't want to send it back (although I can, if there's no other solution).

The band is about 5/8" adjacent to the watch face, and tapers to about 3/8" at the open ends. I've used clear nail polish on rings in the past when this has happened - but this is too much metal to coat and I don't know what effect it will have on the inside of the band.

So - any solutions? Anything I can do to protect myself but also not damage the band? Thanks in advance!

If the metal is solid (not links), use the large sheets of moleskin cut to fit. When you remove it once it gets icky, you can just wipe the adhesive with a little bit of rubbing alcohol to clean it off and replace with fresh moleskin.

Moleskin! Thank you, petchie! That's brilliant (and I can't believe I'm so dumb ). I have some sheets from my last trip!

Thank you, too, simonsmom - I'm just reluctant to cover that much surface with any permanent substance.

No chance at replacing the band, with leather perhaps?

No - each 'arm' of the band is hinged to the casing by a pin, and there's no way to pass a band through. Good thinking, though - thanks!

Thanks again, everyone. Petchie, the moleskin seems to work great! I wore the watch all day - and no itching!

It is probably nickle that is causing the problem. DH bought me a very expensive watch for our Anniversary one year and after a few months I could no longer wear it because of a rash, my doctor said was caused by nickle. I certainly wouldn't put nail polish on it, sure hope the moleskin works.
