I am trying to book the Swan or Dolphin using the Annual Passholder rate during a time period that the rate is available during the 1st 2 of the 4 nights of the stay. I have read on these boards, specifically on the FAQ threads, that like at Disney, if you begin your stay under the discounted rate code, it will carry over through the remainder of your stay, whether or not the remainder of your stay is during an AP rate availability time period or not.

I have called several times and tried to convey this to the reservation agent, and I am having no luck. Every agent I have spoken to tells me this is not the way it works, and that I could have the 1st 2 nights at the discount, but the last 2 must be at rack rate. Is there something specific I need to do in order to accomplish this, or am I just misunderstanding how to use the AP rate?

Please help!!!

hmmm! I could be wrong but I believe that that only applies to say Value season rates versus peak season rates, and not actual discounts. Meaning if part of your stay falls during a higher rate time period and the other part falls at a less busy cheaper time you get the lower rate for your whole stay. The discounts are different.

Shelly you are correct. The rates are limited to a certain number of rooms per night so that rate is probally not available for the other 2 nights. Usually with the swan they add more days on fridays so keep trying

Hi luvpooh,

I believe the situation you are describing applies to value season going into holiday or regular season. I do not believes this applies to AP discounts.

Sorry.

At a Disney resort whatever rate your first nights stay is will be the same rate for every night of your stay, no matter what season it turns into during your stay. Swan and Dolphin must have a different policy since they are not Disney resorts.

okay, I must have misunderstood. At the end of the 1st (now locked) Swan/Dolphin FAQ's, somebody asked about their nurses discount rolling over to non-discounted days and Glo had said it would. At least that's what I thought...

Oh well, we'll be fine at one of the moderates...

no discounted rates do not roll over. Many people book some nights with the discount and hope to add the remaining nights if they become available. last year i was able to get some nights for 99$ teacher rates but that rate was not available my whole stay.

I have stayed at DISNEY-OWNED properties, and experienced this very thing you are inquiring about. My folio arrived under the door in the a.m., only to reflect two different room charge amounts. When I phoned the front desk, I was told the vaule season had "expired" during my stay, and the higher rate was applied to the remaining dates of our stay. This occurred on more than one occasion, so it is NOT due to a different policy for the Swan/Dolphin. This has also occurred under many circumstances, with different discounts/offers being used. ALL Disney PROPERTY (This includes the Swan/Dolphin) Resorts offer these rates according to "Seasons", and the Magic Kingdom Club Card, AP, etc., discounts do not apply when the SEASONAL RATE changes/expires.

FYI, Disney owned and opperated resorts do not make a rate change mid-stay unless you make seperate reservations for each season dates. The rate on your reservation is guarenteed reguardless of season changes. They will not change your rate from anything other than your confirmed room rate---if they do, you need to contact the front desk or the resort manager for the rate to be adjusted back to your confirmed room rate.

We're talking apples and oranges here people. In my experience at both the S/D and Disney resorts the RATE you check in with doesn't change. If you check in at value season rates and it changes to peak season while you are there, you're in luck. If you check in at holiday season, and it changes to value season while you are there, you need two seperate reservations if you want to take advantage of the change.

DISCOUNTS are a different ball game. They are good only for the dates available. If I call for a teachers discount at the S/D there may be some nights it is available and some it isn't. Same with Disney, if you call asking for one of the Codes that ends on 8/24, you will not get that code price for 8/25. They will tell you it is not available.

Two different discussions happening here! Just doing my best to clarify what I'm reading. :)

...And I recall during the last stay on Disney Property, I called the front desk to ask them to change/lower the increased room rate. They argued and denied the change. I disputed the surcharge amount w/AMEX once home...all surcharges were reversed ($379.00) and the problem was solved immediately & permanently. (This proves the importance of keeping the original reservation confirmation sent by Disney!).

I have also stayed in a Dis Resort, unaware I could have been able to take "Advantage" of the lower rate change w/two separate ressies!(As Lindamg pointed out) So, when the lower season rate went into effect (August), I was stuck paying the higher rate made under the reservation for July! Live & Learn!
