I'm thinking of ordering some vouchers for our August trip. We have 2 adults, and 3 kids (he just turned 12, but will probably eat kids meals except at buffets)

I have a couple of questions, sorry if they've been answered before, but I couldn't find them.

Will I be able to get a regular appetizer and dessert off the menu with a child's VKL at Rainforest Cafe in AK and Sci Fi Diner in MGM? I am thinking that if I get the kids vouchers, I will use the appetizers as my meal, rather than an entree (like at AK I'll get a crab cake and just order a small soup)

Which savings club offers tha Target gift cards? As long as I'm joining, I plan on buying some other gift cards!

Thanks

Julia

I joined for a month bought 40 Q&C and did Target and Olive

Garden gift cards. It was free for the first 30 days, and $7.95 a

month afterwards. I did quit after the trial period but I probably

will rejoin next year.

How did you quit after the trial period? Don't you have to be a member to get your $5 rebate on your gift cards?

I can't answer about Sci Fi but at RFC in AK you can order the entire meal (appetizer, entree, drink and dessert) off the adult menu. You get a TON of food. I would recommend getting no more than 3 vouchers for your family of 5 for RFC. Depending on the ages / appetites of the other 2 kids, you may be able to get away with 2 vouchers and maybe fill in with another kids' meal or a salad for an adult.

They are supposed to put the $5.00 on the credit card. When it didn't happen after the first billing cycle, I called and they said it may take up to 90 days.

I am ready to call again. Thanks for reminding me:wave2:

Tarmand, you were right. I called HWSC today to find out about my rewards, and you do have to be active to recieve your rewards.
It is a real scam. The free trial does not get you a $25.00 gift card for $20.00 ,unless you are active, and then it costs you $7.95 to be active. If I was told that I would have stayed on for another month and got my $105.00 rebated.

I have the Consumer affairs address and I will be writing to them.

So beware of HWSC.

Poorman,
I'm sorry that you got a misinformed customer service rep at Hotwire. I had one of their reps tell me that the meal vouchers never expire! Of course, I knew that wasn't true by reading these boards! I guess Disney doesn't have the market cornered on clueless CSRs!

When you go to the shopping section on the Hotwire Savings Club website, there is a link, in red, right in the middle of the page that says
"Click here to learn how to save with gift cards/certificates" .

The link takes you to a page that states this:
This is an exclusive offer of Hotwire Savings Club. In order to save, gift card(s)/certificate(s) must be purchased through Hotwire Savings Club. Credits are not available for gift card(s)/certificate(s) purchased through participating retailers. You must be an active member of Hotwire Savings Club at the time your credit is processed. Your credit will be made to the credit card used to purchase gift card(s)/certificate(s) and it will appear on your next 1-2 billing statements.

I don't think that they are being deceptive nor are they running a scam. The information may not be right there in bold letters on the front page of their website but it is there.

I, too, joined for the vouchers, but decided to stay on awhile to order some cards, especially since they are good for online orders. I figure the $7.95 a month is worth it since I'm averaging $40 a month back. I have been buying Target, Penneys, Toys R us, Media Play, Blockbuster, and other assorted giftcards, as well as some movie tickets. We tend to spend a lot of money at those places anyway, so it's a good deal for us.
