I was wondering if price weren't too much of an issue, and me, DH and two teen-age DD's could stay at PB (bay view, not sure what that is) as opposed to RPR standard room for only $40 more (not per night but altogether) would that be a better choice?

I've been staying at RPR for 10 years and never even seen the other hotels so I have no idea if my family would enjoy PB as much. I've always wanted to stay there but just haven't had the guts to try something new... We will be going to HHN if that makes any difference because I do know PB is a little closer to US.

The new res. is on hold until tomorrow at 4pm, if anyone has any thoughts they would be much appreciated! :) Thanks!!!

There is def. more space at PBH. One thing to consider though with two teenaged DD's is that the bathroom is all self contained, so that means that sinks, showers, toilet, etc are all in the one room.

Ive only stated at HRH and PBH.

PBH rooms are HUGE. But like Damo said the bathroom is all in one... one HUGE bathroom. I think is room is the size of my entire bedroom :rotfl:

The pbh is very luxurious and relaxing, but like I said ive never been to RPR....yet. It seems like more of a romantic get away though.

Thanks so much for the input! I did see the pics of the bathrooms but didn't even think about that being a problem... but I can definitely see it becomming one with all of us trying to get ready at once! I was so focused on the size of the room that I wasn't thinking about anything else. :rolleyes1

I was thinking about RPR's club level as I have never stayed there either but I'm afraid the weekend rate may be too much of a stretch... But if the price difference from what we're paying now is not much more than PB may that's an option.... any thoughts?

We look at it this way. We want a nice hotel, great sights, good staff, and amenities. The room size and bathroom does not matter too much since you are not living in the room. We find ourselves out of the room, around the hotel common areas and in the parks.

Only you are going to know which is right for your family.:thumbsup2

Thanks for the responses! I'm actually sold on PB but I just have one more question... is there another option for breakfast at PB without eating at one of the buffets? Something like the Orchid Lounge at RPR? I know that can get expensive but you can purchase single items and we just don't eat that much in the mornings. Thanks again!

I wasn't at the resort enough to try anything (We had a weekend's time is all) so I have no idea about that. But I will say there was amble enough room to store some cereal and poptarts. You can also boil water in the coffee pot and make some instant oatmeal and grits :) I know thats not what you asked but it does save time and money for our family.

Oh and cinnabon on citywalk... mmmm

You can go to the little gelateria in the morning beside Sal's for pastries and quick breakfast take-outs. There is a Keurig coffee maker in each room for coffee, hot chocolate and tea.

PBH is a better hotel, but there's nothing wrong with RPR -- both would be "deluxes" at Disney. The question is what $40 a night is worth to you. If it means sacrificing somewhere else, I'd go with RPR. If it's not that big a deal, then go for PBH.

I've stayed at both, I'd have no problem staying at RPR again but PBH is definitely on another level.

Actually we're just staying the weekend too, and I agree, pop-tarts or granola bars... all that stuff is great for breakfast. My daughter does like to have milk in the morning or grab a bagel but we definitely don't have to if I can't find that quick.

I'm going to confirm the res today as I'm so thrilled to be trying PB for that price. I've never considered it because of the money and we usually don't stay long enough to make the extra worth it, but I just can't pass this up!!!!

Thank you guys for the input, I'm sooooo excited!!!! :woohoo:

I hae stayed at PB twice and RPR three times and although PB is a step up - We have been returning to RPR because it is so quick to walk in and out of the parks - 5 minutes to City Walk! That is a big plus for us.

I agree about the walk. Customer service it was a longer but I honestly can't pass up the chance to stay at PB for that price. We love RPR because we've stayed there so much, but I'd like a new experience just this once. I took the boat the last couple of times we went as my legs aren't what they used to be... :)

You're going to love it. I'm hoping that I'm not too spoiled now but I highly doubt any of the USF hotels could let me down...

Oh and did I mention that you can listen to the TV in the BATHROOM!? Yeah, I listened to a UGA game while showering. And honestly, if you're like me and my sisters, the shower curtain is plenty thick enough to provide enough privacy to have someone showering and getting ready at the same time. Oh and did I mention the storage in the bathroom? Huuuge shelf for all your extra STUFF. Theres a little roll out drawer under the tv where we put all our food.. then theres also one by the door where the coffee pot is. And I mention how comfortable the beds are?

:yay: Sorry I must calm myself, I'm a bit hyper tonight. :rolleyes1

:rotfl: Tiny Dancer your response is priceless!!! That's exactly how I feel everytime I go to US/IOA no matter what! I can talk about any aspect of it and instantly get super excited!!! I'm thrilled at being able to stay at PB and am now making two trips down so booked a room there for the other trip as well! I soooo cannot wait!!! This is my first yr. having an AP so I'm taking full advantage of it!

I'm in love with the hotel already thanks to all the great posts!!!!

I can't compare resorts at Universal since I've only stayed at PB but I will say that the pool there is fabulous! It was the highlight of our trip. And while I did notice our hotel was farthest away out of the Universal hotels, we used a pedi-cab a few times and the boat once. Obviously you pay (what you want) for the pedi-cab but it was so much fun and worth it!

There is a quick service spot for breakfast items in the morning. The breakfast sandwiches they pre-make are yummy and they have muffins and to go drinks as well as coffee drinks too. The line went a little slow so I'd recommend the early riser in your family get the food and bring it back for the group if you want to maximize time.

Have fun!

Thanks, Tink! The pool does look absolutely beautiful!! Any idea what time the breakfast place opens? And is it in the hotel?

Sort of *bumping* if anyone knows what time the breakfast place at PB opens in the mornings, but one more question...

does PB serve food and drinks by the pool/jacuzzi like RPR? We like to eat by the pool in the evenings when we're there...

Thanks! :)

NEVERMIND... Just found the PBH Info thread! I've got some reading to do!!! Looks like everything I need to know is in there! Awesome!!
