I had booked Disney value at @80 per night but turns out this will not fit in our buget for March now...
I REALLY want to take my son...he is sooo looking forward to going around easter and will NOT forget!
PLEASE PLEASE someone tell me where else I could stay that is CLEAN and cheap ($60 or less)...we don't need frills but I don't want dirty bed linens, musty odors, pet urine in the room or mold in the bath  :rolleyes2

Why not try Hotwire? If you will have a vehicle. We have done well with both that and priceline. There are also options on Hotelkingdom, and you might check mousesavers. All of these list many 3 or 4 star places at reasonable prices. You might check for a condo on Hotelkingdom. That could also be a big moneysaver, andit is so much easier to eat healthfully. (In our experience.)

GREAT help! Thanks used hotelkingdom and found some good deals for 3+ star hotels...
Howard Johnson East
Island Hideaway
Baymont Inn
Days Inn Eastgate
Inn at Summer Bay
Know about any of these?

Haven't stayed in any of them in Orlando. We did stay at a Baymont in Buffalo that was quite satisfactory. What dates are you going?

Oh, and Days Inn has a bad rep. There is a decent Quality Suites in Kiss. that always had decent rates, and I think a free breakfast. Might want to check Choice.com (I think that is right! It should be the Choice hotels, such as Comfort and Quality suites and Inns.)

Try the Doubletree Club in DTD. A previous poster said something about booking it for like 44 night. I went there last Feb and booked a package through expedia, air from NYC was included and it came to about 240 a person. So I couldn't imagine the room costing a lot. VERY CLEAN. Very nice place. Only downfall is the shuttle service to the parks. The 1 day that we went to MGM we ended up waiting awhile. BUt if you have a car no need to worry. They do have shuttles, they just were few and far between.

i don;t know how long you are going for but akyauction.com is great, i got a 2 bed room villa 7 nights total 215.00,

We just stayed at the Fairfield Inn at Little Lake Bryan for $49.00 a night and got the deal off of www.easyclicktravel.com it was one of the "exclusive deals". The hotel was clean, nice breakfast, nice pool and you can use any of the facilities at the SHS or Courtyard. The hotel has good restaurants within walking distance and is a short drive to DTD and the WDW theme parks.

You can probably get the Doubletree Club for $44 a night on Hotwire. We got it for that last year on Hotwire. This year we waited too long so couldn't get it on Hotwire but got it on HotelmartUSA instead for $67 a night. We had the Hilton Honors floor (7th) and it was very nice and clean.

If you think about using Hotwire, go to www.betterbidding.com first. They help decipher the ratings system that Hotwire uses so you can have a good idea of which hotel you will get.

If you really, really, really want to save money you can also try Priceline. www.biddingfortravel.com is a great website for learning how to book on Priceline. It also has a list of winning bids in the Oralndo area and it looks like a 3* (all of which are better than the 3+ hotels you found on hotel kingdom) goes for about $45-$50 per night.

Good luck!

you realize that Easter week is the most crowded time (except Christmas to NY) there is.

can't you go in the summer - yes - even the summer is less crowded.

this year I think it will be twice as bad - because lots of school always have off that week - you add Easter week and that is a HUGE amount of people.

I love WDW - but doing really crowded times - it is NOT fun (my opinion).

You aren't cancelling the trip - you are rescheduling it to a better time.

the only big problem is that when WDW reaches capacaity they will close the parks to off site guests - I even think they will close to on site guests if it is as crowded as I expect it to be. what that means is 125,000 people in the MK ALONE - I think the MK is crowded when there is 40,000 people.....

I am sorry - but I would reconsider your timing.

otherwise get there early each and every day and be prepared to stay ALL day....

this is not a vacation for me - but work!!!!

Pat:

Do you think the week after Easter will be as crowded as the week before? Don't most schools have the week before Easter off instead? The OP won't be arriving until 3/29 ... that's the day my DD goes back to school.

all of March and the first two weeks of April - are big spring break time for schools (include primary, HS and College Breaks) - add Easter - and boy - I really think the place will be packed.

DVC always charges us more point for peak season (packed times) - this year it is March 20 - April 2...

So I am sorry - I think the place will be packed.

the only other time DVC charges this much is Dec 24 -31 - do you want to be there doing that time???

if you do - great - you are a party person - have a wonderful time you will love it.

I like to go to WDW to do the stuff - not just see the shows - when it is this packed - you need to adjust to seeing more shows and doing less ride.

Yes! I go every year. :rotfl: I just finished booking our Grand Villa at OKW for the first week of Janauary and a studio at BWV for 12/29-1/1.

Now that I checked, I see that DVC does designate the week before and the week after as Premium Season. You have a good point about the crowds. I don't think I would consider going to WDW at a very busy time (Spring Break or Christmas/New Years or 4th of July) without staying onsite. It's too darn crowded and the parks and parking lots close to off-site guests. Perhaps the OP can shave a day off her trip and keep her Value Resort reservation.

:earboy2: Go to www.orlandoinfo.com and click on the links for the Orlando Magic Card. Will list the rates they offer with the card. It is free to sign up and when you call to make the reservations just tell them you have the Magic card and want that rate, we did this last year, they never even asked to see our card, they do mail you one but not sure if you would get it before you need it. We stayed at Days Suites at Old Town, had a kitchen with stove, fridge, microwave, bedroom with 2 queen beds and living room with a murphy bed....6 yo thought this was great, the extra space was good, gave them some play room, think it was like $67 on the Magic card......on the way down however we picked up some of those books that have discounts and they had a coupon in it that was about $10 cheaper than our rate.....couldn't use it on reservations though, only walk ins....though someone in front of us had one and they had rooms available. Also Mainstay Suites is pretty reasonable priced I think. They have kitchens as well, nice to have for breakfast and snacks. You can check for coupons at www.travelsaverguides.com and print off coupons

We booked ours through wdwpackages.com, mind you we havent gone yet, but we got a good rate for the Holiday Inn Nikki Bird, and the rate we got was 68 a night, but I also have 4 kids. The rate on the site gave us 53 a night, but that wasnt taking all of our kids into consideration, and we wouldnt have fit in the first room it gave us. We booked our tickets with it also, which I dont know if you want to do or not.

I check Skyauction often. I often see the Best Western Lake Buena Vista which is on Disney Property and in walking distance to Down Town Disney, being won for $14.00 + the 32.00 per night, totaling $46.00 per night TAX AND FEES INCLUDED. Can't beat that on Disney property. If someone else can, please let me know, because I plan on attempting this for this November (hopefully). :)

My fiance (a manager for reservations for Decatur Hotels in New Orleans) reccomends against hotelkingdom.com.

He says that the rate is not guaranteed and you can easily be refused because the internet company is quoting rates that are way too low.

He reccomends that if you simply must save money, try Priceline or Hotwire instead.
