Please help - not sure I have the AP thing figured correctly.

Here's my situation in a nutshell: My DD and I are going in March with friends, staying offsite in a pool home. Our park tickets are already paid for - two 5 day tickets, no extras.

Now, out of the blue, my DH has agreed to a 6 night trip in January, just the two of us. I thought great, we'll get to try the dining plan, since we plan to stay on-site at CSR. But now that I have done and re-done the math, I've come to the conclusion that it would most likely cost less overall if I were to get an AP for me, and use it for both trips, as well as a possible room discount in January, as well as free parking for the March trip. I could even get the DDE and use it for both trips. I would just need to purchase a 7 day PH ticket for DH.

So, here's the part I'm not sure about - every time I read about upgrading tickets to AP, it talks about upgrading from a PH ticket. The ticket I already have is not a PH. Can I still upgrade it to an AP? Or would it be better to hang on to the 5 day ticket until January and upgrade it to a 7 day PH for DH? THe only thing that scares me about doing it that way, is if for some reason we don't go in January, then I've spent all that money on the AP for no reason.

Is there anything else I should consider?
Thanks! :goodvibes

Hi CherylDan - try this link to Allearsnet.com.

It explains in detail what you can and cannot do in terms of upgrading or getting dollar credit for purchased tickets.

Also, if you are going to the parks for a total of 11 days in March and January, you may consider getting AP's for both you and your husband. An AP is cheaper than buying a 5 day base + a 7 day park hopper.

Good luck with your decision!
