Please help my family of 5!?

Disneymom5-
Hi! Thanks for responding- Since you know what its like to do disney with a buig family...I have a few more questions if you don't mind-

Why did you pick Pop versus the All stars?
Did you do the dining plan?
Your kids are older but... what was your stroller situation?

Thanks for the tip about ADJOINING rooms- I wrote that one down!

Disney MOM of 4!

As a family of 5 (2 seniors, one 35 yr old, DS11, DD7) we stayed at POR twice and didn't feel at all cramped. We spent very little time in the room. I even slept a couple of nights on the trundle and it was plenty comfy. I must say though after a day at the parks, I would probably be able to sleep standing on my head in the bathtub. Overall, we loved POR as a resort. One time we were placed fairly far from the main bldg, the second time we had bldg 16 and that was great. Some great features of POR are the relaxing Tom Sawyer atmosphere, Bob Jackson the all ages piano man, the boat to DTD, breakfast at Boatwrights (you can find a better dinner honestly but the breakfast is fabulously good). You can also legally pool hop to POFQ which has a fun pool two, so it's two great pools for the price of one.
I think if my kids were a bit older, I'd opt for 2 rooms at ASMo. The kids and I stayed there in August and loved it.

We are a family of 8 (there were 10 of us counting my parents)and just stayed at POR. We loved the resort and the 2 connecting rooms there worked perfect for us! Everyones opinon on a room size being cramped and small will vary quite a bit. I expected to find POR to be way smaller than it was by the way people described it. I found it plenty big enough for 5 of us. My kids are ages 1,3,5,7,11, & 14.

With the trundle bed, your family of 5 would fit comfortably at POR and it really is a nice, relaxing resort. My kids loved the pool and slide. The kids really liked the room decor of Alligator Bayou.

Since your kids are young yet, POR would be great to try now and see if it works for you. You'll know for future trips if you need the extra room and TV. I'm sure when the kids are teens, the extra bathroom may be worth the extra $$ in itself, but for now, I say why spend more to stay at a value by getting two rooms when you can stay at a Moderate for less.

If money isn't an issue, by all means the Poly or Contemporary would be awesome!

Also, the dining plan is wonderful and if you are planning on doing some character meals and sitdowns dinners anyhow really consider the meal plan!

Disney MOM of 4!

I haven't been on the board for a couple of days, sorry for the delay! LOL
Pop - hmmm...I guess I liked the looks of it, it is newer, good reviews, and it seemed a little more, condensed(?) than the All stars. We were really very pleased. expected the rooms to be MUCH smaller then they were.

We did do the dining plan, as we got in on the free promotion. We LOVED it!!! Now, that being said...if we were to go back with a group the same ages as we were this time (3 adult price, 3 kid price, 2 free) we would be willing to pay for it. BUT, when I priced out what it would cost us in two years (4 adult price, 4 kid price, 1 free) it gave dh the hives. LOL
So would we do it again -- free, absolutely, good deal, probably, full price, maybe not.
It was really nice to try all the restaurants (we did mostly character buffets, but did really like Le Cellier) and not worry about price. Our kids ate better than they usually would. Not so many hamburgers, chkn nuggets, though they did get a few of those.
We took our own dbl stroller, and only used Disney transportation. It works for us! We love the buses. (my kids think they are part of the attractions!)

Happy to answer any other questions you might have! :wave2:
