PLEASE help me!

First, please be assured that I have read every thread on this board, and a few others, and tried to figure this out.
Second, please don't flame me for being unable to figure this out. I've printed out pages and pages, and I still don't get it.
We are going for the 4/3 deal. (We were out of points
I *think* I should upgrade to AP since we have a 2nd trip planned in December.
There seems to be some discrepancy about whether you will get credit for 4 days or 7 days when upgrading.
Would someone please tell me what the price would be for the upgrade for
(a) a 7day MYW base w/DVC discount
adult
Child

(b) a 4 day MYW base w/DVC discount
adult
child


I am sorry - I know this has been done to death, but I really can't seem to get it.
All I need is a number - I don't need mathematical equations, my brain doesn't work that way!

The OP is asking about upgrading a MYW ticket, which is part of the 4/3 package, to an AP with the DVC discount.

I think the price difference between a 4-day and a 7-day is pretty small, like $9-10. I'm sure you'll get the answer here on the DIS boards, but I don't think there will be a big difference.

I can't even ask the question right! Does that prove how clueless I am?
I want to upgrade these tickets to APs.
There is a big discussion on the Theme Parks board that you need to upgrade your tickets to non-exp, and then upgrade THAT to AP when you get there.
I just can't figure out how much that is going to cost.
Honestly, I have spreadsheets printed out from that thread,. and I still
can't figure out how much money to take!!

The only think I DO KNOW FOR SURE..is you need to USE at least one day of the 4/3 MYW ticket and then upgrade. That is all I know and understand.

There is also a big discussion going on on the Theme Parks board saying someone did an upgrade to AP and did not get credit for the 3 free ticket days. I'd say at the moment it's a little up in the air, but I would check out those threads over there for people's most recent experiences.

At this point, I would not rely on the all the past threads about upgrading your 4/3 tickets to NE and for xx # of days to get the most value out of an upgrade.

Regardless - the difference in price between a 4 day MYW base and a 7 is $9. So if you get the credit for those 3 days, you'd be saving $9 x the number of tix you're upgrading, and if you don't, well, it's not very much $$ in the big scheme of things. And we're already getting at least a $100 discount on APs for being DVC members.

My understanding is that that you get the best value if you purchase 7 day NON expiring tickets with the package (as you would only pay for 4).

That would cost you around $269 (plus tax), but you would get credit for $338.00 plus tax when you upgrade.

As others have said, you must USE the ticket once in order to bring it up to gate value.

The DVC annual pass is $369 (plus tax I believe). So this option will save you about $69 per ticket.

Sooooo, if I just add non-exp to each ticket for 150 total, I will save 50 bucks or so?
Is it really worth it to drive myself crazy over this??

I'd just buy the 4 day non-expiring tickets....use them one day and then upgrade to the DVC discounted AP. Simple and cost effective.

You know what....you either pay more to get the non expiring MYW passes........ to get more off the upgrade to a DVC discount or you pay less for the expiring MYW passes and pay more to upgrade. IT all works out to be about the same give or take a couple bucks. I would just do what the previous poster wrote.
