I am normally pretty good at crunching out all of the $ and finding the best deal HOWEVER I know I must be doing something wrong. Like a lot of you I was waiting for the late August-September AP rates. I also agree that they were disappointing. I was hoping to upgrade my digs to a moderate or even AK. Ok so value it will be...that aside....I am now trying to figure out if just using AP room only at POP preferred (2 Adults 1 Child aug 28-spt 2) with Quick service dinning for $978.30 or Plus Dinning $1088.30 is better than...Making Memories Free Dinning which came out to $1159.90 QS or $1269.90 Plus dinning.

Now this is where I MUST be missing something:

The Memories pkg includes the required 2dy tickets, the value I calculated at $522.92. Deduct the tkts from pkg price = $636.98 QS or $746 plus Dine. not to mention the $100 that was added for the "Memory" factor.

I guess my question is : Did I do this equation correctly? I was thinking in the past that "FD" was not so free and did not adjust my prices so drastically. Although previously I was only acounting for 1A & 1C ( I gained an adult this trip). Also I'm not sure what rate the passholder site gives for the room if you add the dinning plan. Is it better to book room online and add Dinning Plan later by phone?

Is the only shortcoming having to shell out the extra bucks for the tickets in advance??

Sorry....I just fear I'm missing something big!!

Thank you all for your advice & patience!!!! :):):):)

The AP discount is only saving you about $21+tax/night.

The free QSDDP would be 34.99 for each adult and 11.99 for the child or about $82/night.

If you are going to book a package with DDP I would go for free dining and save the tickets for a future trip.

Its hard to beat free dining at a value resort.

Thanks. That's what I was thinking. I believe in the past I was usually seeing a greater room discount in the moderates and went that route, thereby saving the extra purchase of the tickets. In this case, without any decent AP room discounts, I guess it makes sense to go with a Value & Free DDP.

Thanks again.....I just wanted someone to verify the conclusion I had arrived at!!

:) :) :) :)

Do you have your AP or voucher now and registered on the WDW web site? When you go on check details, on the bottom of the reservation page that comes up on the passholder site is an option to click on add dining. Someone had to point this out to me, cause I couldn't figure out how to add dining ;)

then you can check what AP + dining would be against the Magic memories free dining. For us- I have a mod. booked with the older free dining, and it was a better deal then the AP + Dining. There are 2 of us. I don't think the new free dining is as good a deal.
