Hi all. I am hoping for some help with my FP+ strategy.

Listed below are the parks with the attractions we are wanting to experience. The *indicates FP+ is available.

Which rides would you try for FP and which would you ride standby? As I type it out Epcot is obvious. ;)

Any other helpful tips would be appreciated! :flower3: The only morning we are planning to rope-drop is our AK day. We do have park hoppers but also have dinner plans every night. We are coming from the west coast so the time change is not our friend.

MK: evening EMH 10p-midnight
Country Bears
Hall of Presidents (still unsure)
Mickey's Phillharmagic*
7DMT*
Splash*
People Mover
Carousel of Progress
Pirates*
Jungle Cruise*
Peter Pan*
BTMRR*

AK: am EMH 8-9 am
Flight of Passage*
EE*
Dinosaur*
Kali*
Safari*
Na'vi River*

Epcot: evening EMH 9-11 pm
3 Caballeros
Frozen*
Test Track*
Spaceship Earth*

DHS:
RnR*
ToT*
Slinky Dog*
Aliens*

MK - 7DMT, Splash and PP

AK - FOP (if you can get it on day 2), EE, Safari. If you can't get FOP get Navi.

Epcot - Frozen and TT are both Tier ones so you can only do one of them. I would FP Frozen and do TT single rider. Then FP SE. I don't know about a third.

DHS - RnRC, ToT and SDC

Thanks! So if we cannot get Flight of Passage, I am guessing we should rope drop/do EMH that morning? I am terrified as it looks like mildly organized chaos from what I have read/seen. :scared: Any other thoughts?

We haven't been to WDW in 6 years so single rider doesn't sound appealing. We do it at Disneyland for Radiator Sprigs Racers but we go often. Does that change trying for Frozen over Test Track?

I was reading about people not doing their entire day at once and trying to get the most difficult FP+ first first then going back and filling in their days? Sounds so confusing but does it work?

No; plan to rope drop TT, FP Frozen.

You can always book a 9a Tier 2 for Epcot and let it expire. Then as soon as you tap into FP#3, look for a FP for TT.

Yes to this. I said single ride TT because I was thinking RD for Soarin but you won't be doing Soarin. So definitely RD TT and FP Frozen.

Wait wait wait what? Please tell me how/why this works.

What if we don't rope-drop? We may as we plan on closing AK the night before our Epcot day.....but what if we don't rope drop? This is a kid's free trip. There will be a lot of imbibing.

It works to quickly try for another Tier 1 FP.

So:
FP#1 - Tier 2 ride at 9a allow to expire
FP#2 - Tier 1 Frozen @ 10a
FP#3 - Tier 2 SSE - try to move it up as soon you enter Frozen FP line.

Enter FP line for FP#3 and immediately look for FP#4 - any Tier 1 or 2 that’s available.

So grab any tier 2 that we don't want? Why would I not grab Frozen first and then one we don't want to ride? Is the purpose of the first to use as a placeholder of sorts? This is where I get confused. User error on my end. I am sure I am over thinking it.

If you have no plans to rope drop, burn a Tier 2 FP that first hour the park is open.

If the Tier 2 is between Frozen and Fp#3 or is FP#3, you have a longer period of time to wait until you try to book FP#4.

The point is to look for another Tier 1 as Fp#4 and when you can’t think of another Tier 2 to begin with for your initial 3 FPs, just burn one.

Thanks! Correct, we have no plans to rope drop other than at AK.

Is this because you can only hold one tier 1 at a time?

Yes and if you check the priority lists in the FP FAQ, Tier 1s are the higher priority rides.

It’s like having RSR and GOTG in DCA. Would you book the Little Mermaid ride if you could try for one of the 2 best rides in DCA instead?

LOL, that makes sense and of course not but I do like The Little Mermaid ride. Haha!

Thanks again for being patient. Its a lot of info to digest with this old brain.

No problem at all! :goodvibes Another DISer is asking about spending a few hours in DL, so I’ve been in DL-mode giving reasons why he should go...and, I do miss Whoopi and Golden Dreams...I’d probably even FP it. ;)

So our choices for mid-June are:

MK - 7DMT, Space Mtn, Big Thunder
AK - Flight of Passage, Dinosaur, Everest
EP - Test Track, Mission Space; Green, Spaceship Earth
HS - RnR, Tower of Terror, Star Tours

Then to try and maximize our 'standby' options, I invested in a subscription to Touring Plans. Fingers crossed for some magic-infused technology !

This is normally what we do:
Mk-space, splash, 7dmt
Epcot-test track, mission space-orange, spaceship earth
Ak-fop, Safari, dinosaur
Hs-ToT, RnRC, and I would get slinky dog dash as the third

The reason we pick tt over frozen is because we rope drop Epcot and tt breaks down a lot. When we were at Epcot in March, tt always had a longer wait than frozen.

I loved Whoopi and Golden Dreams! DH was just saying that this weekend as I drug him on Ariel. Again.....

No Golden Dreams, no Soarin' over California...they are going to have to change the name of DCA soon.

:thanks: Which would you say are the best standby options? I added a few rides to our MK day; I will want to go on POTC and BTMRR even though we have them at DL. I hear WDW's BTMRR is better.

Thank you! So choose Test Track over Frozen if rope-dropping? If not rope=dropping then Frozen over Test Track? Funny thing is DH and I aren't huge Frozen Fans but it feels like we should ride it because we haven't and are not sure when we will return to WDW. Silly I know.

they are going to have to change the name of DCA soon
And Paradise Pier Hotel.

If you aren’t rope dropping MK, I agree with @mi*vida*loca ’s choices. Standby for Philharmagic and maybe Pirates. As soon as you pass the FP touchpoint for FP#3, Search for FP#4. Choose and Confirm and then return to the FP and Modify to move up the time. You may be able to find and book the rest of the rides on your list. :)

So the ones I grabbed are attractions that are "new to us" or family faves. That said, we also love Pirates, Mansion, and other rides in MK. I just tried to get the best sense from my family what are the must-dos. Those were the Fast Pass options I went for. Once I had that locked down, I took the rest of our usual suspects and plugged them into the Touring Plans website(along with my fastpass and dining reservations) and came up with some touring plans that would help us get everything done. Hope this helps.
