DH and I decided to splurge for the Discovery Magic pkg for a post-finals Disney binge in December (we are law students), my gosh, it is making studying hard! :)

Anyway, we will use 4 wishes for meals (others reserved for spa and golf) and will be there for 3 dinners. I would love to hear anyone's suggestions on using them for the best meal and the best value.

Oh, and the luau and hoop dee do are eligible too. And one more thing, we are both allergic to fish of all kinds. I know I must be senile for asking this (or just really really hoping), but is V&A included?

This is my first on-site trip, and first time with UPH or wishes! Man I love that mouse.:earsboy: :earsgirl:

V&A is not included. I would try at least one character meal.
A buffet would probably be a good deal. Watch which restaraunts you choose, Artist point, Bistro de Paris, Cali Grill, Citricos, Coral Reef, Flying Fish, Fulton's, Jiko, Narcoossee's , and Yachtsman require 2 wishes. San Angel Inn looked pretty and I have heard good reviews. Crystal palace had a good lunch buffet. Boma looks like it has a wondeful buffet. Have fun !!!

Try Ohana's at the poly - great meal! I agree do a character dinner, Chef Mickeys is a great one both food and character wise. I would then think about maybe San Angel inn - very romantic.....

Do a dinner at Cindy's - late seating for fireworks. Good food - romantic - great view. Request a window table!!

Thanks for the suggestions, keep em coming!

We did Chef M's in August for dinner, and it was really fun. Parents did go to that one and enjoyed it. We got a table right by the windows, and it was all rainy. Cinderella Castle and the lagoon looked so pretty with a storm brewing!

I printed out the info on the wdw website about the package, and it does same some resteraunts require two wishes, but it doesn't list Artist Point or Jiko as requiring two. I guess I could call disney and ask. What happens if I make the PS now, when it is one wish, and they change it by the time we go?

One more question, if we are doing a charcter dinner, I would be interested in doing if it is still the Villans at GF?

Thanks again! Planning this trip is keeping me sane under the mountains of text books...........;)

Hi Tarra!

My husband and I just got back from our honeymoon on the Discovery Magic plan. And honest to goodness, we had wishes left over. We ate and ate and ate (and we're big eaters!) and ate at most 2 wish places and still had wishes to burn on Water Mouse boats, lithographs, and other stuff. :)

We came out of the whole thing thinking that we got the best value for our wishes at Jiko, Artist Point, and Brown Derby.

But we LOOOOVED all the other places... just when it came to the final "bill" and we saw how much everything cost in the end. The fact that I was allowed a $14 appetizer was just AMAZING. And Mike got the $45 crab claws at Fulton's. CRAZY!

I'd be happy to answer any questions you have as a recent traveler... PLEASE let me know if I can be of help! ;)

Oh, and Dansyr's "2 wish" breakdown actually differs from what we experienced. Not all those restaurants were two wishes... even though I thought they might be going in. I think that's why we ended up with so many leftover!

Sorry if I was incorrect about the two wish thing. I downloaded a pkg description from disneyclub, and those were the 2 wish restaraunts listed.

Hi TarraLee!

I've never actually used the Discovery Magic Package, but my boyfriend and I will be using it for the first time in November. We chose the following restaurants for our wishes:

Artist Point (one wish per person)
Flying Fish (two wishes per person)
Hollywood Brown Derby (one wish per person)
Jiko (one wish per person)
Fulton's (two wishes per person; not sure I'd recommend this one, but my boyfriend really wants to try it)
Restaurant Marrakesh (one wish per person)

I would not miss Artist Point or Jiko this year at one wish per person, because next year these two restaurants will be two wishes per person.

We are also using 2 wishes per person to enjoy the Cirque du Soleil. Enjoy your vacation, and good luck on finals! :)

Yes, I definitely agree with Queen of Hearts. We absolutely got our best "bang for our buck" at Jiko, Artist Point, and Brown Derby (but I already said this.) :) Dansry's info must be from that updated list... we're VERY lucky to have gotten in under the one-wish-wire! :p

But I also say that because they were our FAVORITE restaurants too! We did Fulton's and honestly, of all the places we ate at, we liked it the least! Can you believe it? And it was only one of two 2 wish places we went to! (CA Grill being the other.) Didn't get the most out of our wishes, and didn't LOVE the food as much as we did other places. So I also agree with Queen in not highly recommending it as much as the others.

Julia
