Please help me understand use year & banking

Is there a DVC for dummies section?

We bought points in Kidani Village before it opened. Our use year is December.

We have 66 points left for use year DEC 09

So questions:

1. What is use year (in our case DECember) - when does it run from and too

2. What is the banking window and when will we need to bank points by to ensure we do not lose the points we have left for 09

Dec 09 UY runs from Dec 01, 2009 to Nov 30, 2010. You need to use your points during that time frame or bank them before Aug 1, 2010.

Your UY is the time each year that your points become "current". For you, that is Dec 1st.

When you book a trip, you can use points that have been banked from the prior UY, current UY, and borrowed from the next, so it is important to understand that when you make a reservation.

You also the first 8 months of your UY to bank any points, so traveling after this time frame is tricky as you have less flexibility if you have to cancel.
