Please help me understand initial cost of DVC

I got DH to agree to the purchase, non-Disney DH AKA Grumpy DH, but I am unsure about the initial financial outlay. Since DH does not share the same love for Disney as I do I will pay for this myself. How do I determine the downpayment/deposit required upon signing? How much do closing cost typically cost?

Hi, I too have a grumpy dh, doesn't care for Disney either confused3 ), but agreed, well maybe that is too strong a word, he shrugged and said he doesn't care. So I went ahead recently (offered July 11-closed Aug 21) and purchased a small resale. 60 pts BWV-$87/pt. I am purchasing with my vacation money that I save every year to visit the world with my kids. Grumpy stays home with the dog (at least the dog is happy). My deposit was 10% and balance plus closing ($359) upon closing. I intend to buy more when I have money saved. One day I intend to lure grumpy dh back to Disney, wish me luck.

If you are in a position to purchase from Disney, I believe the deposit is also 10% and I have read on the disboards that disney absorbs some of the closing. But you have to be in a position to dispense $15-$16 k up front. There are some promotional offers also. I'm sure there are more knowedgeable people than me who can give you the whole lowdown.

Meantime you should order the brochure from the timeshare store, I was very happy with their service. If you have not already ordered the planning dvd from Disney, do that too. It gives you something happy to look at while you decide how to proceed. Good luck.

My DW considers me a GRUMPY DH. However I do love going to all the retaurants they have and the food there is very good in general. hey as they say something for everyone.

If he like food get him to go and do a lot of sampling. I really love going around the world Food wise at Epcot!!!
