Hi!
So we're going to the Orlando area in February! This is our first winter trip. We're not going to Disney, but to Universal and Busch Gardens and SeaWorld. We've been in Maine every February of our lives! What type of clothes should we pack?

I'm thinking of pants, T-shirts, and light weight fleeces or sweatshirts. Should I bother packing shorts and capris? I'm mainly trying to figure out how many of each thing I should pack! This is our first trip where we won't have a washer/dryer in the condo, so I have to plan strategically!

I'll pack some sunblock for faces and arms, but it will be nice to not need gallons of the stuff!

We are going in February, too, and I have the same questions!! I really want to be able to wear shorts, at least once or twice !!

I've been twice in February and am going again in a month - and the best advice I have is to PACK LAYERS.

Quite honestly, expect a wide variance of fluctuations possible, not just temps. It could be sunny and 70-80 during the day and only a pleasant 60 at night, or it could be 50-65 during the day and down to 30 or 40 at night. I've had both. And sometimes that's in the same trip! :goodvibes

So - I wouldn't bother with shorts, or capris. It will be cool enough in both the morning and afternoon that you'd be regretting those for most of the day. But jeans or pants with a t-shirt? Great! Just make sure you pack a light sweater, a heavy sweater, or some combo of two other light heavy things (extra shirt to layer, heavier jacket or a lighter jacket with fleece underneath, etc).

We work it by having one person carry a light tote (Longchamp is my favorite - big and roomy with only a pocket for your cell if you need it!) to hold the extra clothing, and the other person wears a small purse. That way, we can trade off who is dealing with the big bag whenever we get tired!

We went to Disney in the middle of Feb two years ago and wore shorts pretty much the entire time and I'm usually someone who is always cold. I would usually start the day in shorts and a fleece then in the middle wore shorts and a t-shirt or tank top and in the evening jeans with a fleece.

We've been to WDW in February at least 8 times in the last 10 years and have experienced a variety of weather. About 60 % of the time we've had to deal with rain and cold temperatures. I finally got smart (after freezing my fanny too many times) and now pack:
  • a hoodie
  • a polar fleece jacket
  • jeans or long pants
  • an umbrella
  • gloves
I needed all of it last year when the temperature was 34 degrees. It was a hassle to take it all off in restuarants, etc. but perfect for walking around the parks. Also, don't forget an extra pair of shoes since wet ones don't dry from one day to the next. One pair of shorts is all I pack. Just my 2 cents worth.

Happy traveling!

were heading down next month as well, and have been there in 05 during a really bad cold spell...now were from nova scotia, so seeing as it was 35 below with the windchill, disney really wasn't that bad! lol but there were a few days i did end up wearing jeans.

i asked a friend whom i've met on here who lives 2 hrs away and she suggested layers as well. so were taking shorts, pants, hoodies, mitts and hats and will have our winter coats with us when we get on the plane. not that i plan on wearing those in the parks, but it can get chilly, esp at nite. for the kids im also packing a small polar fleece blanket as well. they'll be in a sit and stand stroller and since i know it can get chilly, it's going to hit them first.
