Changed my reservation from standard room to club level at RPH yesterday. Got it for $90 more with the AAA discount. 7 day trip with 3 generations, my 71 yr old mother, me and 21 yr old daughter. 2 nights will be at RPH the other hotels with be under $100 a night including breakfast.
I should NOT be spending the extra money with club level , I have 2 kids in college, blah, blah, blah.

But I am splitting the extra $90 per night with my mother . So I'm thinking that's only $45 per night more. I would have spent that amount on breakfast, snacks, etc...maybe right????

Please justify this for me! Trip is next week and I'm feeling guilty.

thanks
Kathy

Got this from your ticker.....It's your daughter's 21st Birthday!!!:cheer2: Have a great trip!

If you'll use the club level then don't worry about the cost. We are here at RPR now, having an awesome time. Fabulous hotel. I've found the food to be very expensive, though. So as long as you will eat at club level I think it'll be a good value.

Probably not but that isn't the point of club. You have to add in the cost of convenience and enjoyment that it gives you.

Our family would never benefit from club. There is not enough variety of what we want. I would rather choose where to eat or snack and not feel obligated to eat there since you basically prepaid for it. No matter how you look at it it still costs $90 per night.:thumbsup2

Just returned from HRH, where we stayed on the club level. For us it was well worth the additional price as we took advantage of the continental breakfast, happy hour and dessert hour. If you need bacon and eggs to start your day then you probably wouldn't benefit; likewise if you don't think you'd be back to the hotel in time for the appetizers and wine/beer. One other benefit - bottled water was available on request; at the snack shop in the hotel it was $4.50 a bottle!

Just returned yesterday, just a side note if you are thinking it is the same as Disney you will be sadly mistaken. It dosent even come close just my 2 cents I'll never stay club level again at a loews resort.

I think it will be well worth the extra$$ especially since you are spilting it. I am doing the same thing in September and spliting it with a friend. It will just be nice being able to grab a quick bite before heading to the parks without any stress.:thumbsup2

Don't feel guilty, it sounds like its going to be a special trip and just enjoy:goodvibes

And don't put too much stock in people telling you that club level isn't like disney and how they would never do it agian cause you can't go into Universal thinking its going to be like disney cause you will be disappointed cause Universal is a totally different experiance :thumbsup2

Well, if you guys are willing to be there for the mealtimes, and you aren't picky about food...if you don't mind a continental style breakfast (not a "real" breakfast), there are no allergies or sensitivities, etc... with three grown people it *could* be worth it.

We had two adults and one child, vegetarian (all the "dinner" type of foods were meat-based, so there was nothing substantial for us) , with ingredients we had to avoid, and I'm not into Budweiser or Corona, so...even though our per-night difference was less than $90, we didn't get near to making it worth it for us. The club lounge was...meh. There were TVs, but I don't understand the point of those. I *wanted* to like it...that's why we booked it...but we can't see booking that level again.

The worst part for us was the timing in the morning. It just didn't open early enough for us to be there early for IOA's Early Entry. The earliest we got there, and that's while carrying food/coffee away with us, was right at EE opening time. We wanted to be earlier.

But if you can actually be there and not be rushing off...it *could* end up being worth the $90 per day.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Well, here's what I'm thinking. Say we ONLY do breakfast (we are sooo not picky), if we purchased 2 coffees each, a bagel and a bottle of water downstairs or in the parks, that is bound to be at least $12 a piece. So that's all ready $36.00 for breakfast. We do not want to sit and waste time eating breakfast. We are on the run gals!! LOL

So, at $90 minus $36, this leaves me with $54 each night. I'm splitting it with my mother, so that's $27.00 before we use it for anything else. And knowing my mother and daughter, they will def make sure they eat everything there, including the evening cookies. :rotfl:

My new way of thinking this past year has been to live "outside the box", so for $27.00 I think I will try something new and do just that.

thanks so much everyone....trip is in 2 days!!
PS. This is a 21st birthday gift to my daughter, so I also have a feeling she will utilize the happy hour...ugh!!

I have done club level at the Poly, Beach Club, Animal Kingdom lodge and Royal Pacific....

Royal Pacific is awesome~!

We found it we used it even more than the Disney clubs, with the front of the line perk, we relaxed at the hotel more in the evenings....

Ask for bottled water to take to the parks, which adds to the value...

Just a little info...each room has a Keurig coffee maker with coffee, tea, hot chocolate, creamers, etc. No need really to be buying coffee anywhere else. Also, you can get free ice water anywhere in the parks. You just need to ask.

It's hard, if not impossible, to justify club level from a purely financial point of view. If you don't need it and already feel guilty, don't do it.

However, it's an indulgence that many people enjoy. If that's you, then do it and enjoy it -- but don't seek justification. You'll just feel more guilty.

Exactly. It is no different than eating on a very tight budget and eating extravagantly. Just because it can be done more cheaply doesn't mean it isn't worth it.
