Please help me help my brother rent a great vacation home...

I posted this on the Orlando boards too but here goes...

My darling brother and his family (DW, DD7 and DD3) want to go to Disney at the end of March.

Now the tough part...They want to go with his biological Brother , his DW and 2 Darling Sons, Sister-in-law and her DH, DS7, DS3 and his inlaws (both in their 50's and never gone)


That make 8 adults and 6 kids!!!!


I usually go to Disney with just my DH and we rent a condo but none big enough for 14.


Can anyone give me advice on where there are nice houses for rent, very close to disney that don't charge a fortune?


I have volunteered to look for this and a rental van, plane tickets as well as Disney ticket options.

I have the rest covered but the house is a real brain teaser....Thanks for any help.

In January we used www.closesttodisney.com to rent a 3bdrm villa. We will be using them again next year for our trip of 8 people. They have great rates. They offer homes up to 6bdrms. I also have seen larger homes on www.vrbo.com these are private renters and also offer some great deals.

Would you mind sharing some van rental advice? That's an area that has me stumped!
I'm trying to decide between a large rental or 2 smaller vehicles.

I found a great house on ebay. 5 bedroom for $700 for the week. The tirck to that is as time gets closer it is harder for them to rent these houses at higher rates. Last year I got a 3 bdrm, worked great. Most people that rent houses on ebay are square trade verified, which means they gaurantee your money(that it is a legitimate house) up until a certain dollar.

We stayed this past summer at Windsor Palms... we had 11 of us in 6 bedroom I think...

They have even bigger homes at Formosa Gardens, which is just down the road... Try there.

We have a 5bed/3bath house rented for our upcoming trip. We rented it through www.orlandovillas.com It was just a hair over $900.00 for 8 nights w/ pool heat, taxes, and everything. We have 8 people in our group, but the house sleeps 12. They also have 6 and 7 bedroom homes. They have homes in many different developments. We, personally, are going to be in Hampton Lakes. I did days and hours of research on this back in June when we were looking to rent this villa. To say the last I have a notebook full of info. I did find this website to have the best rates. I was actually lead to this site by other dis'ers who have used them.

Just be sure no matter which house you pick you check the house and management company out completely.

I've been doing some investigating and may actually go with www.floridaleisure.com I like the fact that you can see the exact home you are renting, the terms are good and prices reasonable.

We are from Wisconsin and we used www.floridasunshine.com. We stayed in Indian Ridge (oaks), and stayed in the house called Arabesque. It was $149.00 a night, we were there in April 2002. It is a 3 bedroom house that slept 8. You can get much larger houses too and when you split the cost with another couple it's not so bad. Nice to come home to your own place, with own jacuzzi, and pool. Nice and quiet when you sleep too.

if you decide to go w/ florida leisure-- he's a memeber on this board--- he's usually over on the orlando & attractions boards. He usually has pretty sound advice-- any doesn't attempt to sway you towards his homes. If you find a particular company he will tell you the good or bad even if it means a loss of business for him.

we had a 5 bedroom, 4 bath home with pool it was in a great community... gorgeous home! huge kitchen! we loved it! In fact, we will be staying with them on every trip from here out!
We had 6 adults, 4 kids... and there was more room than we knew what to do with!
David and his wife are outstanding! What we liked best, was the personal feeling! You didnt feel like you were just another tourist renting one of their million homes!! They made us feel like we were the only people they were renting to! It was great!

We were about 15 minutes from all the parks...

Sounds like you've got plenty of info. We always use gemstonehomes.com. We have rented from Ray numerous times. He is friendly and very honest and accomodating. Last time we had 10 adults and 2 kids. We had a 5 bedroom guest home. Stayed 6 nights. Cost was 100 per adult per week this included pool heat.(We went in November). Was located about 4 miles from Disney
