Cinderella's Talking Vanity. If you see one on-line, or in a store, please respond here and let me know where.
I have a long sob story if you want to hear it and even if you don't, I need to vent, so here goes:
I bought this item for my almost-3yo dd for Christmas, at Target for $47 and change (regularly $70), several days after this great sale started, and there were still tons on the shelves, so I had no idea it was the hot item that it is.
Santa brought it, although he didn't realize until he set it up at midnight Christmas Eve that none of the electronic functions worked. So, she received it Christmas morning, thrilled, loved playing with it, whether it talked and Cindy's face appeared or not. But of course, mom thinks "we need one that works", so the day after Christmas, I take it back to Target to exchange it. Customer Service takes it back, gives me my money back, tells me to grab another one off the shelf and buy it. They'll give me the same great price because I have the receipt. (You can see where this is going, right?)
I go back to the shelves, and they are out of stock. I talk to someone in the toy dept. who tells me they'll have more in a few days, keep checking back. So, of course, I check back and they change their tune. Now, they won't be stocking them again. Hugely P.O.'d at Target, I talk to the store manager, the 800 number for guest relations, etc, no Target store in the country has one now, nor are they going to carry them again in the future, and by now, they've shipped my defective one back to the manufacturer, so they can't even give that one back to me. Meanwhile, dd asks me every day "is my talking vanity fixed?", and "where my talking vanity?"
I tried every other store in town and googled till the cows came home and have been unable to find it. I've twice ordered it from KBToys.com, when it was supposedly in stock, but each time got an e-mail a day or two later saying they had to cancel my order because they are out of stock and don't know when they'll get more in stock, it's such a popular item.
I saw one on Ebay last night just seconds before the auction ended. I could have had it for $72 + $20 shipping, but as much as I want to replace it for my dd, I'm not sure if I'm willing to pay nearly double for the thing!
My poor little girl is so sad about this. Every picture from Christmas of her is of playing with this toy, and it's in the background of most of the others. She just loved it so much, only had it for a day, and keeps talking about it. She's been so patient about waiting for "Santa to fix it", and it just breaks my heart to think she may never get another one.
I bought a little Dream Dazzlers talking vanity from Toys R Us for $10, as sort of a temporary replacement while we wait to get the new one, but she doesn't like it nearly as much (obviously!)
I'll probably give up soon and take her to the store to let her pick out something else, but this was really the one thing she wanted for Christmas, so I wanted to just see if there was anyone here who might know where to find one. If you've read this far, thanks for "listening", and thanks in advance for any help.

I was hoping to find a less expensive alternative to Ebay as well, but it starting to look like I'm going to have to do it that way.
