Hi!!! I have been stalking these boards now for months, and finally joined! I was hoping to get some help since you all seem to know so much about disney!! My boyfriend and I are FINALLY getting married (almost 6 years) and we've decided we definitely want to do it in Disney. We live and breathe disney, (I'm sure some of you know what I mean!) and want a very small wedding. No one is coming except his sister and her husband (they are also disney fanatics). Anyway, now to my problem. I've been researching everywhere to get married, but was wondering if anyone has any ideas of where to get married besides on the disney grounds? ($4,000 is a little steep for us). I know the Swan and Dolphin also does weddings, and I'm still waiting to hear back from them but was also wondering if anyone has other ideas? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!!! Thanks a bunch!

More than likely any hotel around that area does weddings. I would look at surrounding hotels. Their websites may not have too much info but I'm sure you could call and ask for more. I know there was someone on this board that did a wedding near Disney and it was a beautiful location. Good luck!

Have you looked outside of the Disney area? If you drive maybe 30 minutes on I-4 East, you can get to the Maitland Art Center - http://www.maitlandartcenter.org/weddings.htm

The website is old and doesn't show it very well, but I can assure it's wonderful! You could have wedding festivities & honeymoon at Disney, but do the ceremony in Maitland. The site fee is only $200... You can't beat that!

The ceremony area is secluded and seats up to 50 guests.

I just had someone tell me that Cypress Gardens has a beautiful outdoor garden type area for weddings. I think it's in the Orlando area?

Thanks!! The art center is beautiful and im going to look up cypress gardens right now. this is just what im looking for! Thanks a bunch!!:goodvibes

Wow all of those places are beautiful!!!!! Good luck with whatever you choose :)

My husband and I booked a 2 bdrm Villa at OkW for three nights. Invited some friends and family and brought in our own cake, snacks and had a friend who was a Notary Public perform the ceremony.

It was way less expensive than the "Intimate" ceremony and more casual (which was to our liking)

I know that this was off the "Disney Map" but it suited us and our friends and family said they had the best time ever and we will never forget the experience.

Best of luck with your plans whatever they may be pixiedust:

ooh, everyone on this board is so helpful! I'm trying to decide whether i can swing something in Disney, and it's good to know that there are places nearby that could help us do it more affordably, and still keep the "magic" :) thanks all!

Okay, not that I'm suggesting this, but a friend of a friend HAD to get married in one of the parks and would otherwise die. But, they had ZERO money.

So, a friend got ordained online and they, well,...it had a lot less fanfare...

I would keep doing what you are doing. Ask around the boards here a lot and ask if you see someone in Orlando post about weddings. I bet people who live in Orlando go to non-Disney weddings often. Then you can have your reception in a Disney restaurant or something just as nice.
