Ok everyone, please give me some advice or help me choose what you think would be the best excursion for me and my 11 yo dd on our first ever cruise this coming May. I have narrowed it down to 3 choices considering that my dd wants to get off the ship in Nassau and they are:

1. Go to Cable Beach/Wyndham Resort and soak up some rays and play on the beach.

2. Do the Carribean Queen Snorkel Tour b/c the snorkeling at CC isn't that great from what I've read.

3. Do the Catamaran Sail & Reef Snorkeling Tour.

Please help me choose which is the best option for us?? We are both good swimmers but beginner snorkelers. Which one is the most fun? Thanks.

Anyone? Gosh in the past I've gotten so much help on these boards, I hope that hasn't changed along with the design. :(

Hey disneyprincess, you may want to change the title of your post to something like "Nassau Excursion question". Folks are still as helpful as ever.

Sorry but I've only been on the Magic so can't help you on the Nassau excursions.

I think the folks on the board are familiar with the excursions on the Magic than the excursions on the Wonder.

Good luck and hope you get some answers. You might want to do a search on keywords like Catamaran or snorkeling.

The snorkel tour is GREAT. DW and I did it had a BLAST and some really cool pictures. We highly recommend it. PS #2 on your list

Thank you both for your replies, I appreciate the advice believe me. So Donald Duck 57 do you think that the Caribbean Snorkel tour will be great for my 11 yo dd who only snorkeled in TL once? Come to think of it that's the only time I snorkeled too silly me  Thanks again and anyone else who has some advice/info on this subject please let me know. Oh and I'm glad to know that it's the same great people on these boards cause I've gotten such great tips and don't want to give that up!

Hi Dizprincess,
Your DD will really LOVE it. The people that run the tour are fantastic. When we went it was DW very first time and they were GREAT making her feel comfortable and at ease. you both will have a good time.Don't forget to buy a waterproof disposable camera before you leave home,Target-Wal-Mart are your best bets. Hope this helps, any more questions about it feel free to ask. Also you both may want to wear a light tee shirt you get alot of sun on your backs.

. . . have never taken these particular tours (Did Blue Lagoon when we were in Nassau and did go to the beach you mentioned), however, you may want to consider the catamaran/snorel tour to get the most out of your excursion.

Snorkeling is lots of fun, but so is a catamaran. In fact, we're doing the Eastern 7-Day in March and are looking for a Catamaran tour. Our kids have heard us talk about catamarans from trips we've taken without them and they can't wait to ride on the netting, watching the water rush beneath them. It's also so refreshing to feel the breeze. So, you get to snorkel and have that experience plus the special experience of "sailing" as opposed to a boat with just an engine!

Just a thought . . . since others can advise on these particular tour operators.

We just returned from a week in Nassau with three kids (10, 10, and 8). I haven't done most of your options, but we did stay at the Radisson Cable Beach. (Don't pay for a taxi - all week long we just hopped on and off the #10 bus and it goes up and down the island.) It's a nice beach and you'll have a relaxing time there. There is also snorkeling there at the beach, but it's pretty basic. Rentals run about $30 I think for the hour. Another suggestion would be to do Ardastra Gardens and Zoo ($12 adults, much less for kids). You take the #10 bus at the port (cost is $1) and tell them you want to get off at the Zoo. You'll have to walk up the street a bit, but we loved it. My kids still talk about the macaws that sat on their shoulder and the Flamingo March. It's a small zoo, takes about two hours to see, and very up close and personal. It's a nice alternative if it's not a great beach day.
Also, we did the Blue Lagoon Dolphin Encounter, and it was worth every penny. I'd highly recommend this if you have an animal lover, because it was just wonderful.
Hope this helped, and have a great time! Melissa

Thanks everyone now I have a lot to think about  What is a Catamaran? I mean I realize it's a type of boat but what is the difference between riding it and another boat? I'm not much for boats can you tell? I love the replies keep them coming if you have any input. :cool1:

We have done the catamaran twice on St Maarten - it is simply awesome.
If you get seasick, take a pill or wear a patch. We were better prepared the second time!
