We are heading to Disney the week after Thanksgiving (Monday-Friday), a first for us- and are excited to kick off the holiday season at our favorite place. We are AP holders so we like to have a relatively slow touring pace at the parks.

We're currently booked at ASMu at a ridiculously low rate of like $72/night. We've never stayed at this resort before- our only experience has been staying at Pop which we've enjoyed. When touring resorts, I've always had an affection for PORS, which leads me to why I need help.

We can stay at PORS in a standard room for $142/night. I know we would enjoy the larger room and bathroom, and the queen beds, and of course just being on property at PORS. And I'm sure that PORS is just beautiful with all of the holiday decorations too. I'd really love to stay there but I'm having a hard time justifying paying double when most of our time will be spent at the parks.

Please help me decide what we should do. I'm so torn! Would we regret not staying at PORS because it is that beautiful over the holidays?

Thanks for everyone's thoughts!

From a transport perspective, I don't think you'll see a lot of difference if you're park warriors. The one caveat: The week after Thanksgiving will see the start of arrival of Pop Warner at ASMu.

All Stars always felt further away from everything to me which meant longer bus rides. Personally I love POR, so I would do it. But, if that extra money would be used for special things (a nice dinner or two, extra souveniers, etc.), I could see the case for not making the move.

Thanks, we don't use Disney transportation; we always drive to the parks. Hmm, I thought Pop Warner kids will start to arrive the Thursday after Thanksgiving?

If you previously enjoyed Pop, then you know what a value is like and should be fine at ASMu. Most people complain when they are expecting moderate level amenities at a value. However, if it's only around $300 to me I would definitely stay at a moderate over a value. The $140/nt rate for a moderate is really good. I like values but the amenities at moderates are so nice. And don't forget the boat to Disney springs from Riverside.

I don't think you would regret it if you have never stayed there before and don't have anything to compare it to. But if you have stayed at POR and love it as much as I do, I think I would regret going to ASMu for the cheaper cost. My favorite thing about our last Disney trip was our hotel, POR.

Thank you @ mickeygirl78 and potterfanatic for your thoughts; you've both made some really good points :) I'll give this some more thought and then decide soon!

I am having the same problem we are booked for carribean beach but I really really want to stay in boardwalk area somewhere what to do...
