I know this has probably been asked a thousand times but I have to ask again. We are taking a trip it May. It will be myself, DH, DD7, DS2, DBL and DN. We were there once before for 2 days in 1999 so we have no clue where to eat. We have the dining plan and will be there May19-28. Please :worship: let me know of all the places I should not miss. The only thing I have booked is CRT. Any help would be very appreciated.

 The best advice I can give is to check out the menus on allearsnet.com that Deb has compiled... click on dining and browse through them. If you have your park agenda all set, you can fit in restaurants which appeal to you. Or, some people decide on restaurants they want and then fit the parks around them!

Also, don't rule out some of the resort restaurants. It can be pretty easy to leave a park for a nearby resort and then go back for more stuff at the parks!

Edit: I just noticed you're from WNY! Hello and welcome to a neighbor!

Here's my list of favorites:

Crystal Palace -- Must dine for me
Liberty Tree Tavern
Rose & Crown -- Must dine for me
Le Cellier
Tusker House -- Must dine for me
50's Primetime -- Must dine for me
Whispering Canyon Cafe -- Must dine for me

Where are you staying? There may be some good choices near your resort. The kids would probably enjoy Chef Mickeys, but the food is so-so - pay more for the atomsphere. Also we like Crystal Palace in the MK - more buffet, but better food than Chef Mickeys and pooh characters here. Also LTT in MK has great food. Also like Ohana's and Kona Cafe at the Poly. Prime Time Cafe is fun at Studios you and spouse and BIL should get a kick out of that.

Here are my family's favorites - -

ANIMAL KINGDOM

We LOVED Flame Tree BBQ for lunch (counter service). The food is wonderful, and the tables by the water are so relaxing. We got happy meals from Restaurantasauras for the kids which they enjoyed - came w/ cute little dinosaur squirt guns.

This year, if the character meal at Hollywood & Vine doesn't become reality, we're trying the character breakfast at Restaurantasauras because our DS really likes dinosaurs (the "theme" of the restaurant), and we needed a character meal for him to go w/ the princess character meal for our DD.

DISNEY STUDIOS

We don't really have any "favorites" here. Last year, we ate at the Toy Story Pizza Planet for lunch (counter service). It wasn't anything special, but it wasn't horrible. The kids enjoyed it. We did the "Hollywood & Vine" Fantasmic Dinner Package. Neither DH nor I were impressed, and, this year, we're trying Mama Melrose's.

Also, I've read about the possibilities of a Toy Story character breakfast at Hollywood & Vine coming soon. If this proves to be true, we'll definitely try to get an ADR for that!

EPCOT

Last year, we ate at Sunshine Seasons for lunch (counter service), and it was okay. I think our kids would have preferred something else, but they did enjoy the dirt cup sundaes. I thought my steak/flatbread was good. I had some kind of fruit thing for dessert that was yummy!

We also did the PSB dinner at Akershus (Norway). We really weren't impressed w/ the food at all, but the character interaction w/ the princesses was very good. This year, I have an ADR for a PSB breakfast instead. (I may cancel though - either this one or CRT.)

We're also trying the character lunch at Garden Grill. And plan to try some of the World Showcase counter services for dinner.

My DH has been wanting to try San Angel Inn since the 1st time he went to Disney World, so we have an ADR for dinner there as well.

MAGIC KINGDOM

Liberty Tree Tavern Character Dinner is must-do for us, & I highly recommend it! This was one of our favorite meals from last year! The Declaration Salad was wonderful! (The mac & cheese was just so-so.) And the character interaction was fun too.

Crystal Palace Character Lunch is also a must-do for us! This was our very favorite buffet last year - so plentiful, so good! It was an excellent "break" from the park for lunch. It was quite crowded, so I'd suggest an earlier seating for whatever meal (breakfast, lunch, or dinner). The characters were good too.

We ate breakfast at CRT last year & thoroughly enjoyed it. This year, we have an ADR for lunch. W/ the changes at CRT going into effect in Feb, I may be canceling - especially if the other princesses aren't there. I haven't decided yet.

Our favorite counter service in the MK was Columbia Harbour House. The food was very good, and the dining room upstairs was relaxing & quiet.

RESORTS

Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge is wonderful! We ate there for dinner. And, while there are exotic dishes on the buffet, there is still plenty of other food to satisfy everyone. The desserts are amazing! I fell in love w/ the zebra domes! The kids' selections on this buffet were also quite good.

Trail's End Buffet at Fort Wilderness is also a good value. We ate breakfast there last year - nice atmosphere, good buffet (w/ Mickey waffles!), good value...

We ate breakfast at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort as well. Chef Mickey's is such a "Disney" meal/experience! Really fun w/ the napkin twirling & the characters! However, DH was NOT impressed w/ the buffet, and the characters seemed rushed. This year, we're trying dinner.

We also ate at Ohana at the Poly last year for dinner. This is a really nice restaurant w/ beautiful views of the castle from some of the tables. We really enjoyed our meal here, but, with the recent menu changes, I've read mixed reviews, so I don't have an ADR for here this year - especially since we wanted to try some new places. Even though we had an ADR, we had to wait about 45 minutes before we were seated.

Do you know which parks you'll be touring? On what days? Where will you be staying? What kinds of food your family likes? That will help as people make suggestions.

My absolute favorites are Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge and Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club. Prime Time Cafe and Sci Fi Dine In at MGM are very fun too! We also really enjoyed the food at Rainforest Cafe and Planet Hollywood at Downtown Disney. You will love the Dining Plan!

I think the kids would definitley love Chef Mickeys. :earsboy: One of our favorites is 50's Prime Time. We'llbe trying Sci-Fi for the first time this summer. I've heard mixed reviews about the food...but they tell me the theming is awesome.

Definitely check out the menus on allears. ::yes::

Our family (all ages) love Kona Cafe (we have 3 ADRs for our May trip). Let me alert you though. I just made our ADRs for late April/early May and had to check 3 different days to get into LeCellier for a party 6 (includes infant), there was absolutely nothing available before 8:30PM. Did finally settle for a 7:20PM vs a 4:00PM. So if this is on your list, start with this ADR first and do this right away. Other than that we had no problem getting our party of 6 into Kona's, coral reef, and prime time.

Thanks for all your replies. We will be staying at Pop. I would like to do Chef Mickeys. We are also considering Whispering Canyon but want to do Hoop Dee Doo Revue so I wasn't sure if the food is too similar :scratchin .
Thanks for the welcome Snowy76. We are in West Seneca a suburb of Buffalo. :flower:

We will be visiting Magic Kingdom, MGM, Epcot and Animal Kingdom. We are still trying to get together with BIL to figure out what parks what days. I guess I would say our taste is pretty normal. Nothing exotic but ranges from burgers to chicken to pizza to steak and lobster.

Hello, we were on the dining plan in Sept and going back in Feb.

We loved everywhere we ate.

MK - Counter Service Columbia Harbour House, Cosmic Rays (Fun Dino Character that sings)
MK - LTT wonderful and CS (I have not eaten at Chef Mickeys but have seen many reports that the meal at the Crystal is better)
MK Cindy's Breakfast - had a wonderful time and food was not bad.
EP - Liberty Inn (CS)
EP - LeCellier Wonderful, Teppanyaki (good)
AK - Flame Tree BBQ (real good), Tusker House(real good) CS
MGMDS - Back Lot CS I thought this was good
MGMDS - 50's Prime Time - We had a wonderful time here and my DH and MIL says that they have the best Salmon they have ever had
Hoopde Doo Revue - I thought food was good and I enjoyed the show as well
I understand that the TrailsEnd Buffet is good as well at Fort Wilderness (just a boat ride from MK.
Wilderness Lodge - Great food we had the skillet boat ride from MK as well
Boatwrights at POR - Quiet place and food was good

We are trying Coral Reef this time, as well as Dinner with Cindy, we are going back to the same restaurants too except we traded out Tepp for Coral Reef

Have a great trip :flower:

MK - Crystal Palace and CRT. I love breakfast at CRT and lunch or dinner at CP.

Epcot - We ate at Biergarten in Germany this time and it was really nice. Service is good and the band is cute. LeCellier is great but I don't know if its a great place for kids. Akersus (sp?) is nice too...love the food!

MGM - Hollywood & Vine. We ate there for the first time this year and loved it. Food was good and service was great. For counter service, ABC is really good!

Animal Kingdom - didn't eat here; we went to Hoop de Doo instead for dinner. Highly recommend the food and show!

Other - Chef Mickey: food was ok but it was so cute to see all the characters! Also, California Grill for a nice dinner.

The places we ate the last time we were there in August:

1. Ohanas at the Poly - Had one ADR, ended up going back again..the best meal we had at WDW and great atmosphere.

2. Le Cellier at Epcot - Just a notch below Ohanas in my book. Great food and service.

3. Liberty Tree Tavern at MK - Nice theming and good food. Lots of character interaction as well.

4. Crystal Palace at MK - Just ok..but good character interaction. Service wasn't that great ( it seems each server has quite a large area to cover, refills were non-existant ). Food was ok but just your average Golden Coral type buffet.

5. Sci-Fi at MGM - Even with ADRs, getting into the place was a nightmare..I saw some walk-ins seated before us...their reservation system leaves a lot to be desired. Waiter Service was pretty good, food was blah...

For our next trip in November we will be trying out some new places along with Ohanas and Le Cellier of course:

1. Boma
2. Whispering Canyon Cafe
3. San Angel Inn
4. Mama Melrose

Warning about Chef Mickey's - -

I just called yesterday to add Chef Mickey's (dinner) to our week in June. I was able to get the night I wanted, but there were only 2 times left from which to choose.

So, if you're interested in eating at Chef Mickey's, I'd call very soon to make the ADR if I were you.

Of course, May is supposed to be not as crowded as June, so you may have no trouble whatsoever! :)

Boma & Le Cellier are our tops for TS! We never miss Flame Tree BBQ at AK for CS! Good luck! :earsboy:
