Animal Kingdom Lodge Savannah view or Fort Wilderness Lodge Courtyard view!

We have a 2.5 yr old DD and want to stay at which ever one of these resorts has the better pool, waterslide, playground etc....

Which would you choose and why?

Thanks,
Birdie :sunny:

it is not Fort Wilderness (that is a campground)

you are talking about Wilderness Lodge.

both have okay playgrounds - I like the playgrounds at the moderates better.

I like the slide better at WL.

WL - because most of your trip will probably be to the MK.

although the savannah view at AKL is beautiful - but then so is the courtyard view at WL.

a boat trip is always easier than a bus trip.

AKL is the furtherest WDW hotel away from the MK.

I am planning a Sept trip and had the same question. The best advice I heard was consider what the people who are going would love more and do it.

AKL for animal lovers is an awesome experience. You are up close and right there.

WL is closer to the MK so if that is an issue then do it. There are many people raving about this resort so I am considering it.

Good news is either way you are going to have an awesome time!!

You specifically mentioned the pool. For that alone, I would recommend AKL with a 2.5 year old, simply because the AKL pool is zero-entry, which means the entry is graded/sloped, so younger kids can wade into it until they come to an area/depth with which they are comfortable. Most other pools begin right away at 3 feet or more, and that may be intimidating for younger/shorter kids.

This is the exact reason why we are at AKL, besides others. I've thought about changing to another resort for our May stay, including moderates, but the zero-entry pool keeps me at AKL. Sounds silly, but my girls (5 and 2) are not that great of swimmers, but I'm sure they would still have fun in the AKL pool.

HTH!

Hmmm I think I confused some of you with mentioning we have a 2.5 yr old but not the fact that she's fearless!!! When I mentioned a pool I was thinking of one with a decent sized slide. DD knows how to swim and loves slides. Not as big as SSR but like POFQ. In light of that fact which resort do you think will be more enjoyable playground, pool, ammenities, etc....

I would pick the one that is closest to the park I like the most. For me, that would be Wilderness Lodge because I love the Magic Kingdom! If I were you...I would consider that when I made my choice.
