Please Help Me Decide - Which Resort???

Okay, here's the background. My DH decided that he wanted to "surprise" me with a trip back to WDW later this month WITHOUT my kids for our anniversary. He originally wanted to book the GF Sugar Loaf CL room for $1,837 which reflects an AP discount. Even though I know it is a great rate, it is a bit out of the budget so I took over with making the room reservation.

So, here is what I have come up with:

Yacht Club - Water view, King bed $1,367
BLT - Lake view, Studio $1,324
Dolphin - Resort view, King w/balcony $938

He wanted the convenience of the monorail since we will not have a car and a romantic atmosphere. Although, we love the Boardwalk/Epcot area. However, he said that it is ESPN weekend with activites going on at DS. If we go Dolphin I know there is no DME (so add $125) and no DDP.popcorn::

When we there in January we had the DDP and found that there was too much food. Well, actually too many counter service and not enough table service. So, we didn't think we would get it this time but were thinking TIW. I also think we can get a AAA discount or DVC discount at other restaurants.

I was really thinking that the price for BLT was just right for the location but then read that we wouldn't have access to TOTW lounge and DH isn't thrilled about sacrificing a king bed.

It has been soooo long since we have had a trip without the kids (about 7 years) I really want to make the right choice and of course don't want to hear "I told you" because of my decision. HELP!

Interested in all of your experiences to help me make the choice.:thumbsup2

I would do the Yacht Club. You sound like BLT would dissapoint you since they don't have a king bed, so don't stay there. I think the Dolphin would add to many extra expensives to your trip and you don't get as much of the disney atmosphere. The Yacht Club is beautiful, you'll just have to rely on busses to get around.

You don't get a trip without the kids often - don't sacrifice the king bed. Of the options you've listed, I'd say go with Yacht Club. Have you also considered a room at Contemporary or a room without conceirge at Grand Floridian?

I think the Yacht Club would be the best choice. It has an adult atmosphere and there is so much to do around that area.

Your first choice, GF, is not that much more if that is what you two truly love. If you would like to save, I would say stay there without the concierge as you were not going to stay at any of the other rooms with the concierge option.

I agree with posts above. YC is very romantic and a great place for adults. Yachtsman Steakhouse is right there and that was delicious when I had an anniversary dinner there. I think it is perfect location with Epcot and HS. :) GF is wonderful as well, but if you couldn't afford that then definitely go with YC

Thanks for the advice. :thumbsup2

Originally, I was sold on the Dolphin figuring that at that rate I would have almost $200 a day to put towards dining and fun to get back to the GF price.

We stayed at the Swan about 4 1/2 years ago and liked it.

When I was giving the #s to my DH, he said maybe Y&B.

Started to spend some time looking at pics on different threads and it got me thinking about the suggestion to check out a GF without the CL.

I definitely complicate my life with too many choices. :upsidedow

Dolphin!!! Great location, great views, big bed. Dolphin is one of my top three Disney resorts. You just can't beat the location, especially for an adults only trip and with their wonderful discounts, you can't go wrong.

I had a king bed, balcony room for my anniversary years ago and it was the most spectacular room. There were two MASSIVE windows on two separate walls and the views were beyond breathtaking.

I would also go with the Dolphin - although if the Swan was available for the same price, I would choose that. Did you already add in the $10/night resort fee? We have stayed at the Swan twice and just love it.

Tried the Swan first and it wasn't available. I was 7 1/2 months pregnant when we stayed there over a HOT Labor Day weekend and all I remember is how comfortable that bed really was.

Yes, the $938 includes the tax and resort fee.

ooo, then I would definitely go with the Dolphin. As you noted, then the only other thing to pay for is a town car from MCO and back. That's over $300 savings that you can put toward your meals.

Still trying to figure it out. :surfweb:

Have been making myself crazy looking at all of the photos and trying to weigh it out. I know whichever way we go, we cannot go wrong since we will be at my favorite destination!

From your choices listed, I would go with the YC for the romance and more couple oriented IMHO.

Have you considered the Poly? It is full of romance and relaxation and it is on the monorail. Moonlit/tikitorch walks, fireworks from the beach...

Best Wishes and some pixie dust for a great time!:wizard:
