Please help me decide on a new resort

I can't decide on a resort for our July/August trip, we usually go in October and stay at All star sports (DD's 14 & 16 love it there). I'm not sure that's a good choice for July/August. It will probably be more crowded than we're used to and we will be spending a lot more time at resort this year. I don't want to be elbow to elbow at the pool and foodcourt, so I thought I would try a new resort. I am thinking about POFQ, WL or AKL, they all would be standard view rooms. I was wondering how crowded these resorts are compared to the ASSR at the end of July beginning of Aug. We are also celebrating DD 17th B-day and would like it to be a special trip. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks :wave2:

i don't know if this will make a difference to you but the deluxe resorts are in value season whereas the mod and value are not.

Stayed at AKL in July once. It was great. While the hotel was pretty full, we never felt like it was. We also were lucky enough to get upgraded from our standard room to Savanna view :cool1: We also loved WL, but did that in the fall. POFQ is too quiet for my teens...........

I would say
POFQ or riverside
you may be able to get a discount if you book room only.
they are much less people...
FWL is also very nice and has a boat to MK
any of these resorts are really nice :cool1:
Beware you may not want to go back to an all star if you stay at PORS or FWL they aer both very relaxing....

We stayed at PORS in December 2000, it was too spread out. I have a very hard time walking and the trek from the room to the foodcourt was awful!! The entire time we were there DD's kept saying that it was beautiful, but they wanted to be back at ASSR. I have an AP and am also a AAA member so I'm hoping for good AP rates. I have a room reserved right now at ASSP, AAA rate, and would like to change that ASAP. I have a hard time spending a lot of money on a place to sleep, but I figure we will go back to resort every day for rest and swim and I'm willing to spend a few more dollars this year. I'm just nervous 'cuz the only other resort we've stayed at (PORS), DD's didn't like (although they are older now). I would hate to spend extra $ on a resort they'll dislike. I also am thinking about a split stay, so we could check out a couple resorts. How much of a hassel will it be to pack and unpack all our stuff? I just don't know what to do!! :confused3 Thanks for reply's so far.

Anyone one else have any idea's  ? Please Help, I'm making myself crazy thinking about this and any input would be appreciated! :flower: We've never been to the WDW in the summer and I think that's what is making it so difficult for me. I'm having a hard time planning anything! I'm just not sure how the heat, crowds, extra hours ect... are going to affect what we are going to do. I'm probably thinking way too much about it!! I just want to make sure we all have a fun and relaxing time! Sorry to be such a spaz!!
Thanks :wave2:

WL! The boat to MK rocks!

If you are looking for a less expensive choice POFQ or CBR are both really nice!

Long ago, we always went to WDW in the summer months, wanted the sunshine. Couldn't get out of that rut for years. Finally, we went in October and guess what? Cooler temps, still hot but not that unbearable summer heat, no crowds. In recent years we only go in October, late november and early December and maybe a late May. Crowds are non existent, temps are just right for swimming and our favorite park is the MK. Recently our stays are at the Poly and WL, best way to get quick to the MK and we like FW in the late evenings. When our dd did the college program, she worked in EPCOT, we got to liking YC/BC with its easy access to the gateway to visit her while she was down there. We like ease of access to the parks and YC/BC has the boat or a walk to either MGM or EPCOT. We're not AKL people and only stayed there 3 days and moved to the Poly. It's really, to each his own, on property, no matter where or view, its Disney, and you'll have a magical time!

I don't know how AKL is but WL's main pool can get very crowded on hot summer days. There is the one by the villas too - we used that one a lot because my daughters liked it quieter.

WL has lots to do!!!! I have stayed at all three resorts. AKL is phenomenal, but besides the one pool, there's not much else to do. WL has two pools, the path to FW (bikes, surrey bike, walk), the electrical water pageant, boat to MK and CR (we did this to get to Chef Mickey-might be nice for a birthday or try Artist Point). My personal opinion is that WL is the best resort for the $$$ that you pay. It's really beautiful! POFQ on the other hand has the most GORGEOUS rooms, beautiful "parks" (really too big to be called courtyards) between the buildings. I swear, sometimes this resort looks like you are looking at a beautiful painting. I wasn't at all impressed with the pool area, though. I vote for WL!!!

Hi

Here is my two cents :flower:

With kids that age (mine are 17 and 20) we love the Epcot Resort Area. You can hop a boat or walk to Epcot or MGM. There are a ton of things to do and places to eat over on the Boardwalk. We are true Epcot Resort Area Loyalists!! Even stayed at the Dolphin!! Not as "Disney" as some of the hotels but the location was GREAT!! :cool1: :cool1:

Have a magical Disney Day!! :earsboy:
