Hi All- I'm a long time lurker here but first time poster. My fiance and I are planning are honeymoon in October at WDW. We've narrowed it down to the Polynesian or the WL. We have a set budget for our resort and it looks like we can either do the Poly with a lagoon view room (no concierge) or WL Honeymoon Suite with Concierge.

We've stayed at the WL before and loved it. Never stayed at Poly but we've visited and loved the look and feel of it.

Any advice from anyone who's stayed at both/either would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Well I would say do the PR. It will be a fresh-new experience that will make make unique memories.

WL honeymoon suite... Room # 7085!
View of the fireworks every night from our balcony. It was awesome!

:welcome: to the DIS!!

Personally, I think the WL Honeymoon "Suites" are over-rated. They are a regular sized room with a crappy view (over rooftops) and a nice jacuzzi. I would go with the Polynesian.

Another newbie -- my vote would be for the WL. It seems more romantic than the Poly and you have access to the concierge which can make your honeymoon more special.

Another vote for the Polynesian. WL is my favorite resort but I was really disappointed in the honeymoon rooms there. Luckily I got a tour during a trip prior to our wedding and I changed resorts. I'd rather go for a 1 bedroom at the VWL if your really want a jacuzzi.

While I love the Wilderness Lodge, I would want something new, just to add that little bit of extra excitement.

I know you only asked about the two resorts, but I noticed you'll be visiting in October during the Food & Wine Festival. Staying over at one of the EPCOT resorts would be new and would let you enjoy all the activities at the park.

I know that you need to watch expenses, but have you seen the Garden Suites over at the BoardWalk Inn?

WELCOME to THE DIS

May I suggest something entirely different?

You state that you'll be honeymooning in October. During that time, the Epcot Food & Wine Festival will be in full swing. I personally would recommend staying at either Beach/Yacht Club or Boardwalk during this time. You'll probably enjoy Epcot more, and the bonus is that you'll be within walking distance of Epcot.

If you guys enjoy alcohol, being able to have a short walk back to the room will be a bigger plus. :rotfl:

I highly suggest you read Vettechick's excellent review of her time at the Epcot F&WF and see for yourself: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=951394

My husband & I would LOVE to do the F&WF without kids one year. My biggest challenge will be convincing dh to stay at one of the Epcot Resorts rather than the Polynesian. :rolleyes1

Where ever you stay, it will be great! You're at Disney - why wouldn't it be?

We had a WL Honeymoon suite/room that faced MK for our honeymoon and we LOVED it! The rooms have big 2 person sized whirlpool tubs with cool waterfall type faucets surrounded by marble. King bed, a fairly private balcony. Our room had a perfect view of the MK fireworks in a little window in the shower/tub. Also, great view of the fireworks from the balcony too. That was in 1997 before WL had concierge.

Although the Poly is very romantic with the beach and the south seas feel...I think I would still choose WL if I had to pick all over again.

It just seems a little more special having a honeymoon room and concierge rather than a lagoon view room at the Poly.

Whatever you decide-have a great honeymoon!:)

Hey I think you were the one that I talked to before that stayed in room 7085. I always tell people how great that room was. Especially now that it's concierge. Very relaxing.

I have stayed at the Poly several times. It is very romantic and the rooms are lovely. My favourite hotel is the beach club. Would love to stay in the beach club villas but they are very expensive.
The wilderness rooms seemed to me much smaller and darker than Poly.

I am the one-I remember you!:) I agree-it was wonderful!

you should also ask this at the wedding/honeymoon boards....lots of newlyweds over there...they might be able to offer some advice also;)

While I haven't stayed at the Poly, I have stayed at the WL several times. Concierge service definitely has its privaleges and the jacuzzi tub sounds great. Considering the concierge at the Poly would cost more and I think the atmosphere at the WL is romantic, I vote WL. Good Luck and tell us what you decide. Congratulations!!!

WELCOME to THE DIS

Most trips I walk over to see those "cottages" and look at those cute little backyards. What are they a night?

To the OP. Have a wonderful wedding and honeymoon and even better a terrific marriage. Good luck with your choices. Have you considered renting DVC points. If you do now would be the time since F and W is one of the most popular booking times.

All the best,

Lisa

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for their help. We decided to go with the WL. Maybe we'll do the poly for our 1 year annivesary.
