Please help me decide between POFQ and BC

I will be travelling with my son (6) and mother (60+). We've stayed at the value resorts in the past since we've always gone last minute. This year we are planning in advance and wanted to stay at a moderate or deluxe. We're looking for more amenities and a nicer hotel. If we stay at POFQ we would be able to include meals with our package but if we stay at the BC we would not.

From what I've read the BC seems to be such a great location and I would like being close to BW for evening entertainment. The POFQ seems very beautiful and definitely more affordable.

We're just starting the process so any input would be greatly appreciated. We plan to go the first week of October or December.

both are nice-the Bc is better if you want to hang around the resort more and do Epcot and MGM more.

My mother loved BC, but hated POFQ - she prefers interior corridors & doesn't like climbing stairs to her room. Of course, she didn't like WL, either DURING Dec. ! BC was very convenient, as we spent most of our time at MGM & Epcot with her. My DD was 8 the 1st time we all 3 stayed @ BC. If she & I wanted to do early opening @ MK, Mom would meet us later @ our character meal or some other other easy meeting place. The rooms are larger & bright & breezy @ BC - if you choose it, request a full balcony on the lake side (many standard rooms available), so you won't look at a parking lot. The pool is great & Beaches & Cream is beloved favorite of all 3 of ours. :wizard:

We stayed at the BC last June/July and fell in love with it!! I cannot imagine staying anywhere else. We have also stayed at CB (also nice) and All Star Music (never again). I have only visited the lobby of POFQ and it seemed very nice. We traveled with a 3 and 6 year old and we could not get enough of the pool. I even think that your mother would also enjoy the pool (my in-laws love this pool). One of the greatest features of the pool is the sand on the bottom. It is also a large, meandering pool which makes it seem not as crowded, even on days when there were alot of people at the pool! We also loved Beaches and Cream. I almost forgot the most important part! Being able to walk to Epcot or take the boat to MGM was worth every penny! And watching the Epcot fireworks at night, every night - amazing!! I am sure that you cannot go wrong either way - but given the choice I would highly recommend the BC :flower1:

I have never stayed at BC but heard it is fabulous.
Have stayed at POFQ and it was beautiful.
I know one of the posts above mentioned having to take stairs at POFQ - POFQ does have elevators even though there are outdoor walkways as opposed to indoor hallways.

One thing to keep in mind about BC is that there is no food court there - so in addition to paying more for the room, you will have to pay more for food there as well.

The BC does not have a food court but at Beaches and Creams you can get quick serve and take out of the basics like burgers. They also do a continental breakfast that is very convenient. So I say BC for convience sake. I also love going in through that back gate at Epcot early AM and walking through the countries relatively alone. And being so close to Paris and the Patiserie can be either a blessing or a curse- everything is delicious.

Tough decision...we've stayed at both and enjoyed both. I think given your circumstances though, I'd probably choose the POFQ...but it's our all around favourite resort (we're staying there again in 6 weeks). The BC is nice but we felt it was very busy, the pool was packed all the time and the bus service wasn't all that great. The POFQ on the other hand was very relaxing and the bus service was excellent. We also enjoyed the food court at POFQ (which the BC doesn't have and we found a real pain...all they have is Beaches & Cream which is way too small to service both the BC & YC).

I think you'd enjoy the POFQ, especially after staying at a value resort and as you said, it would definitely be more economical. I'd stay there and spend the extra dollars eating at some of the deluxe resort restaurants. Good luck with your decision...both resorts are great and you'll have a wonderful vacation at either one of them.

We love both resorts. We have stayed at one or the other for most of our trips. We checked into booking the Beach Club for our May trip (we have an e-mail discount code) and found out that we could book two rooms at PO-FQ for less than one room at the Beach Club. Our niece is going with us, so we decided on the two rooms at the French Quarter this time.

Thanks everyone. This helps immensely. I've printed everything and will let my mom take a look and hopefully she'll have more of an opinion than I. Both places seem like they would suit our needs. Gee, if only all my decisions these days would be so pleasant.

Thanks, again!!
