Before all the free dining & room discount madness, I had my heart set on booking a standard view room at CSR. I love the room decor. I like the upgraded linens. I like the "central" air instead of a below-the-window room unit. I love hammocks! I like Mexican food.

I wasn't able to get a decent room-only discount there on Thursday or Friday because of poor availability. So, I booked a garden view room at POFQ. It wasn't my first choice, but I know that lots of DIS folks love it there. The buildings & grounds are pretty, but I'm not really into the Mardi Gras theming. I hate the purple, gold, & green color combination. But I really love the small size of the resort. Being able to easily walk to the main building & the bus stop would be fantastic.

I checked Travelocity today & I can book a standard view room at CSR with a good discount now. Price isn't a factor; there's only a $30 difference between the rooms. I'm not sure why I'm hesitating. All my reasons for picking CSR are still valid. If I had found the room yesterday, I would have booked it without a second thought. I guess I got used to the idea that I would be at a resort where I wouldn't have to walk very much. What if I end up out in the boonies at CSR, nowhere near the main building or a bus stop? After a long day on your feet (especially if they're blistered), location matters.

I've never seen either resort in person, which is why this decision is so hard. What do you folks think? Please help me decide!

I haven't stayed at CSR, but have stayed at POR and POFQ. Last January we had a garden view at POFQ. We were very close to food court, bus and pool. Love the boat to DTD. The bedspreads in the room actually look better in person then in pics, :rotfl:
We love Both POR & FQ. I like Mexican food too, and get it at Epcot!

I personally love POFQ and consider it to be my favorite Mod! The resort is compact but shares facilities with POR which, in essence, doubles the dining and recreation options. Buses to the parks are shared between POFQ and POR with POFQ being the first pick-up. I LOVED that because I'm a single mom and on our last stay at POFQ my daughter was 15-months-old. I looked like a circus act juggling her, her stroller, her diaper bag and my handbag but I was always able to a) get a seat and b) not knock anyone out with a stroller whilst boarding the bus. :rolleyes1 The boat ride to POR and DTD was very relaxing and a great mode of transportation. We took the boat to POR on many nights because my little one wanted to see the "horshies!" and I preferred their food court to POFQ.

I've stayed at CBR once and while the resort isn't bad, it wasn't for me. I didn't like the double beds and it felt too crowded despite its massive size. But, what works for one doesn't always work for the other, so if CBR is where your heart is set, go for it! :thumbsup2

EDIT: I thought you meant deciding between CBR (Caribbean Beach Resort) or POFQ so my response was in regard to CBR. While POFQ is still my favorite Mod, CSR (Coronado Springs Resort) is nearly tied for 1st. It's a beautiful resort and I loved the doors separating the vanity area from the room. The landscaping is fantastic but the downside was lack of a true quick service location. Pepper Market had decent food but it's definitely my least favorite QS location!

Just to prove that there is something for everyone, we are staying at CSR because of the spread out feel to it and it doesn't seem to be a favorite for families with little kids. My DD (who will be 23) and I are going for a week in Oct for the F&WF and often joke about how WDW would be great if it didn't have so many children! :rotfl: We're looking forward to all the same amenities you mentioned and then some! And although we prob wont spend too much time at the food court, it did seem to fit our tastes better as well. :thumbsup2

Also.....and most importantly..... I am just really freaked out by that massive clown head at POFQ! :rotfl2:

Lindaland, I know what you mean. This guy really freaks me out!

POFQ used to be our favorite resort, until we got spoiled at AKL, but here our my thoughts. I think the whole "feel" of POFQ is much more relaxing then CSR. Maybe it is the river running behind the resort that makes is peaceful. I love the food court at CSR, but I think it is many times quicker and easier to eat at POFQ. POFQ is small and easy to get around and you have the added bonus of being able to walk to POR. I also like the boat ride to DD. So of course my vote is for POFQ. :)

We have stayed at POR and CSR (and spent a good deal of time down in POFQ) and I would say book CSR. If that is the theming you like, just do it. You are not going to get that experience at POFQ.

POFQ has a lot of appeal for a lot of people, but by your descriptions of what you want, it will not give you what you are looking for. CSR, will.

Honestly? Don't laugh at me, but I excluded POFQ from the runnings for me long ago because I'm so freaked out by the giant hanging head/mask things in the food court. *shudder* I've had my heart set on CSR for a while, and everything I've read on here has only solidified my decision, so that's how I voted!

Laugh at you ???? I completely AGREE with you :)

And we loved CSR, also loved POR. But POFQ just isn't our thing.

And the "walking distance" of other resorts, is highly over stated.

Seriously....... Those things could (and probably have) cause nightmares in both children and adults!!

Personally, I'd pick CSR. Huge pool, gym, 3 bars. It's a lovely place to walk around at night.

In May I got the Ranchos area which is waaaay in the back and didn't really find the walk to the food court THAT terrible. It was a nice walk and I loved sitting by the lake having my coffee.

It was also nice to lay in a hammock during a late-afternoon park break.

:-)
