Hi everyone,

Usually we stay at PO but this trip my mom is coming along and we have another child. So we are Me, DH, DM, DD5, DS3, and DD 5 mo. Anyway, the prices are looking about the same so what do I choose? AKL savannah view or Poly lagoon view? If I ask DH again he may just shoot me. Also thinking of upgrading to CL. FYI we are doing hoppers and dining.

Thanks

I can't tell you which to one to pick, but I can tell you that we all fit comfortably in one room with me(34) DH(34) my mom(56), DD(5) DS(almost 3) and DD(was 9mos at the time) at the Poly. DH and I slept in a bed with each kid, mom on the day bed(large woman) and the baby in the crib. My kids loved the LV and would fall asleep watching the castle change colors. Staying on the monorail made it easy to go back to the room for naps and lunch. We are staying at the AKL(Savannah view) in Feb so I can give you a good comparrison then.

I have stayed at both the Poly and AKL and I much prefer the Poly. It has larger rooms and many more transportation options than AKL. With small children, the convenience of the monorail and boats is terrific and the resort is within easy walking distance of the Ticket and Transportation Center. I bet that the kids would also enjoy the volcano pool and the beach at the Poly.

I am surprised that you say they are about the same price. If that is the case I would say Polynesian.

Let me start by saying I have been at both resorts and spend a majority of a day just walking around each resort. I just got back from a stay at both in August and I like them both but I felt a little confined by the AKL since there were few paths to walk and things to see. Also there were no other resorts to go to like at the Polynesian. Also our room was much smaller at the AKL.

With that said the AKL is a great resort. The CL at both is great with the food at the AKL being a little better (however more exotic) but the views from the Polynesian concierge lounge cannot be beat. I also love the food at both resorts but I would have to say that the food at the AKL is just a little bit better. The pool at the AKL is much larger but the slide at the Polynesian is 100 times better and there are two pools at the Polynesian. The Polynesian pool is also right along the beach and has views of the MK and fireworks. There is no hot tub at the Polynesian if that is important. The AKL does not share a bus but the bus is the only option (outside your own rental car) for getting around. The Polynesian uses busses, boats and monorail to access everything and there is no other resort in WDW that has as quick an access to both the MK and Epcot.

If you want to know about a good deal on a reservation to the Polynesian than shoot me an email.

Poly, Poly, Poly!

I absolutely love it!

My DDs (7 & 5) would love to live there all the time and they were so disappointed when we didn't stay there for our Thanksgiving week trip, since we were all staying in a "suite" hotel outside the parks for a reunion.

It is a fantastic place for kids. We love being able to watch the fireworks from the beach with the girls play in the sand & DH & I have a drink. The pool may not be the biggest but the slide is the best. I also love the convenience of the monorail to MK since that's the park we visited the most.

I'm planning our 2007 trip and I've already been told by my DDs that we "HAVE TO" stay there. :)

Thanks to everyone.

3littlehalls it sounds like our familes are just about the same!

I was already leaning towards poly because of transport. We do spend most of our time at Epcot and MK with teh kids being small. the larger rooms may seal the deal.

Any thoughts on CL? We have never done it before so I am not sure about the extra expense.

tikiman - its only about $200 diff between AKL CL and Poly garden CL. That's not so much on this type trip. I will email you. I also saw your website already in another post. Thanks

I've stayed at both. DH and I don't have kids yet, but it sounds like the Poly would be a better choice for you. The rooms are much larger, and transportation will be much easier with the monorail since you want to be at MK and Epcot.

Definitely use Tikiman's site to help you. His site really helped me.

$200 difference on the total? That is a great deal.

Both concierge levels are some of the best in WDW but my experience with the staff at the AKL was that they were very friendly but forgot to look into most of the things we asked them about. Now on the other hand many have had nothing but the best experiences with the AKL concierge. I can only tell you my experience. Either concierge would be a great addition but the location of the rooms at the Polynesian concierge is the best location on property and you will find it fast and easy to get to the MK and Epcot from the Polynesian.

The concierge rooms at the Polynesian were also redone with the new room design.
