We gave a week at OKW - 1 bedroom - as a gift to someone 6 months ago (our points that expire soon). They let us know 3 weeks ago that they aren't using it. We found someone else who wanted to go - they told us a week later (2 weeks ago) that they really can't go.

We now have someone who is very excited about using this week. Here's the problem. The family is 2 adults, 3 children (youngest is 9). I know the 1 bedroom is for 4 people, and I don't want to offend anyone, but I really hate to see these points go to waste.

Here's my questions. Can you get 5 resort cards at check in for a 1 bedroom. My understanding is that each one will need a card for EMH.

Thanks sooo much.

I was given 5 cards at check-in at BCV for a 1 bedroom about a month ago. I made the reservation and they had both me and my dh listed. At check-in, when we were going over the children's names, I misunderstood what the CM wanted and listed all the names, including my dh's again, but using his nickname, not his legal DVC name. Anyway, later on, I was surprised to find 5 room cards, and that DVC thought we had 3 adults plus 2 kids in there, and no one said a thing about it.

You'll want to be sure these folks know that they will only have two beds and that no additional bedding is provided by or available from Disney. I'm not sure anymore what the answer will be about 5 room IDs.

Yes, you can get 5 room keys for a family of 5 in a one bedroom...no problem.

And, every time I have done emh (evenings), they only required one room card per party.

3 kids should do just fine on the sleeper sofa and they will not have problems @ EMH. It might be just a bit tight but they're getting a week @ OKW FREE. I'd go and sleep on the balcony for that price :rotfl:

Have them take an aerobed. There is plenty of floor space for it in the OKW 1 bedroom. We take ours when it is just the 3 of us, as our son finds the aerobed to be more comfortable that the sleeper sofa. I know that wasn't your original question, but hope it helps.

Thanks everyone.
We decided to call member services and be up front about the situation. They could see in their records that the names on the reservations had changed twice in the last 3 weeks and they worked their disney magic to make things work.

when CRO rents the 1-bedroom they do it for a family of 5.

so I don't think anyone at OKW will give you any problems.

OKW is definitely big enough.

I thought it was the other way around. MS will allow 5 in a one bedroom but not provide extra linens or bedding. However, CRO will not allow 5 in a one bedroom and will only allow up to 4. Maybe I'm just forgetting what I read on an earlier thread.

You know, I real;ly don't understand how they can say "yes, you an put a 5th person in the 1BR, but they won't have a bed". It seems to me that if MS makes it OK to have a 5th person in a 1BR, then they should supply bedding.

Since all the DVC literature shows sleeping space as 4, officially you shouldn't be able to sleep 5 in a one bedroom. But since so many people have whined, griped, moaned, groaned and complained, I think they got tired of all of that. So one person at MS decided to go ahead and let them, but they won't get additional bedding and linen. Just might be a way to discourage some people who don't bring the sleeping bag or aerobed along with them. Or who have more than two adults out of the five.

I just don't understand the concept of sleeping on the floor in a deluxe resort for a vacation. Not much of a vacation to me.

I'm right there with you!!! I didn't spend as much money on DVC as I did to sleep on the floor!!! But, then again....when I bring guests along on our points....WE get the master!! hee hee!!!! (of course, we have me, dh and dd in the master bed....that's CERTAINLY not some people's idea of a deluxe either!! ;) )

While true enough for adults.............

My grandkids would sleep anywhere on the floor - deluxe or value - as long as it meant they are at Disney!

To the OP - good for you! And MS would have done this no matter how many times the names had changed!

Just another suggestion for the extra child. We have had youngsters sleep on the love seat at OKW with no problems. This was when we were within the number limits, but not within the bedding options. Youngsters like to sleep in odd places (like the love seat). It's kind of like camping out to them.

FYI, we were planning on our family (4 adults) in a studio for NYE and were going to transer to a 2 bedroom on NY Day. A couple weeks ago, our DS said his live-in wants to go too. I called MS, and between the CM and I we figured we could put 5 adults in a 1 bedroom for that one night, so we switched our ressie to a 1 bedroom for 12/31 and will be checking into the 2 bedroom on 1/1.

I called about getting a one bedroom for our family of 5; 2 adults and 3 children and was told I'd have to get a 2 bedroom which meant borrowing points from next year. I guess it depends on the Ms you get if they will do that or not.
