My seven year old son and I are going to WDW in May with my boyfriend and his family. They are staying at Disney's Beach Club Villas. When they told me portion of the room and 4/5 day park hopper would be $1500, not including airfare, I almost fell out of my chair! I told him I couldn't afford that much, seeing as how I am a poor grad student. He talked to his mom and she said it would be fine if we stayed somewhere else. Anyway, here I am trying to find discount park hopper passes and hotel rates somewhere close to their hotel. ANY help would be appreciated soooo much.

If you have a AAA membership, call to see if you can get a room with that discount at one of the closer (and cheaper) hotels. I can't recall what hotels are closest to Beach Club, but I'm guessing there are maps here on the Dis or at Allearsnet.com. There's also the possibility that codes will be issued to the general public in the next XX weeks that you could apply to your reservation. They generally are better prices than AAA, but they are not always issued, so it's a bit of a gamble. I would start with AAA and keep my fingers crossed for general codes. You can watch the Dis to see when they are issued. Those on the Resorts board watch for codes pretty intensely.

As far as tickets go, go to www.mousesavers.com and register for the monthly newsletter. Mary provides a link to ticketmania that has exclusive discounts for mousesavers readers. Also, there is a thread running about undercovertourist.com right now that I am watching on this board. They have better ticket prices, however I'm waiting to get feedback from people who have ordered tickets through them.

Do you have airfare yet? If not, check Southwest Airlines newest marketing thing called "DING". You download it and use it to book your airline tickets when your airport to Orlando is offered. I saved about $19 per ticket today off of regularly published prices on SWA.com.

Hope this helps! And welcome to the Dis, this a great place to be! :grouphug:

Well depending on which week they are staying and what days you plan to arrive and leave, you could rent a Beach Club Villa studio for would be $520 (52 points rented at $10 point) for a Sun thru Thur stay. It would cost you $419 for 5 day MYW tickets with the park hopper option. Total would be $939, but still way cheaper than the price he was quoting you and you would be in the same hotel so you could enjoy the pool together and be close by to meet up for the parks.

Thank you for your help, that sounds great! We are going May 21-26. Where and how do I book that?

First, I have to say that availability of a studio at BCV this close to May might be a stretch. If you're interested in renting points, check out the rent/trade DVC board here on the dis. The DVC members on that board will be able to check availability for you. Here's the link to the board:

However, your stay starts on a Saturday. Saturday nights require 29 points, so I'd suggest staying somewhere else on your first night. For your Sunday through Thursday stay, that would be 13 points each, and points typically are rented for $10 each.

I'd suggest making a backup room-only reservation at a value resort though. Things are starting to book up, but that is totally up to you. If you were to make a reservation at Pop for your 5 nights, that would be $99 plus tax for each night, total of about $552. If you have AAA, you might be able to get a 15% discount if they are still available.

For your passes, discountorlandovacation has 5 day MYW hopper passes for $228 each, or if you have the ticketmania link from the mousesavers newsletter , I think it is $225. Child pass would be $191.

So worst case, total for Pop at rack rate for 5 nights and 2- 5 day MYW passes would be $971.

Good luck!
