I hope someone can help me! We are looking to book an Escape wedding. Its the perfect package since we don't want a reception, but with the max people allowed, (18+bride & groom) some will be left out of the ceremony. With that being said, I wanted to price out the cost of a dessert party in Epcot. DFW won't discuss details yet until March 6th(9months prior to wedding) I called Disney Catering, but for some reason, they said they won't give me info until atleast HALF of the people attending the dessert party have a room booked at a disney hotel :confused3 I found that strange because what if I was a Florida local or what staying off property, but maybe its something that can only be booked when staying at a disney hotel. Anyway, Can someone PLEASE post the info they received about booking a Dessert Party! I really would like to have a good idea of the cost so I know if an Escape Wedding is really for me. T.I.A

First, I do know that Catering will only book an event if half of the people are staying on property, because I had called to see about a business event for my manager and because no one was staying on property, I couldn't do it...

I think that DFTW will only book it for you if the number of guests are the same, so you would have to go through catering, but then would not be able to wear your gown to the DP for instance, because if they know it's on your wedding day, I think they make you go through DFTW...
You could do a DP the day after or before through Catering (if half the peeps were staying on property) or any other day, I think just not on your wedding day..

What you might want to do is get a copy of the Passporter Guide. There is an entire chapter devoted to Escape weddings and another chapter for "other events" which would definitely help you in this case.
You can buy a print copy but if you buy the e-version, it includes all updates! I'd say most of the brides here use it as it is really an invaluable reference guide for Disney weddings of all sorts!

Hi

If you want to PM me your email i'll send you the pricing for Epcot DP venues and dessert menu my planner gave to me. It tells you how many guest are needed for a venue and the minimum you have to spend on food. I'm having a wishes wedding under the 2013/2014 pricing so I know if went up but at least you'll have a base line to go from.

So am I reading this right? You cant have a dessert party unless people are staying at Disney? I never knew that, I woulda thought anyone could have one no matter where you stay!

My sister is getting married in Disney this yr, but we all plan on staying on property so it shouldn't be a problem. Just never knew. She's planning on a ceremony at The Swan & Dolphin and then a dessert party at Epcot. She contacted them and they called her back promptly but she was at work so couldn't answer. So now I'm curious what they will tell her!

If you have an escape wedding, I think you have to book a DP through DFTW. If Disney catered events suspects you're trying to circumvent DFTW they'll punt you over there. We never encountered an issue with DFTW booking our DP or any requirements about guests staying on-site but that could have been a non-issue since we had a wishes wedding with a minimum night requirement.

The last I read, the guest count can't vary more than 5% between events.
