I have made reservations for the Contemporary Wing sections, and I have heard some not so great things . We are a family of five, and don't have a lot of options, but I don't want to spend good money to stay somewhere I'll be disappointed in.
Any advise would be GREATLY appriciated
Thanks in advance

are you in the Tower or a Garden Wing?

Personally, I would kill to stay at Contemp, but they are booked this May

Please elaborate on the "things" that you have heard and on the details of your planned trip. I'm sure that many folks here can assist you with your questions and concerns.

Welcome to the Dis!

What exactly have you heard? It's difficult to comment on unknown questions.

We stayed in the North wing 2.5 years ago. We really loved our stay. We had a 2nd floor room, MK side. We could see the fireworks from our window. The wing was very quiet and the grounds relaxing.

We are in the garden wing standard. We received the Disney Visa rate, and I was sooo excited. But I have heard some not so great things. We LOVE Disney, and have had a particularly stressful year, emotionally, so this trip is kinda last minute, and we are on a budget, but I figured spending some money to lift my families spirits would be worth it.::MickeyMo

I have heard the rooms are run down, and of course the Holiday Inn comment:crazy: But how is the grounds, I mean are there flowers and landscaping. I have only rode past on the monorail. Are the rooms comfortable for 5 (2 adults, 14yo, 11yo, 9yo). We also could have stayed at the Wilderness Lodge woods view, but I thought, the Contemporary just seems awesome. Also if anyone could help with how I can get happys delivered to our room ahead of time :earsboy: As previously stated its been a bad year, and this is a pick us all up trip :teeth:

Thanks for the replies. One other comment I heard about the resort is that it doesn't have the Disney Charm the other resorts have. Any reviews or comments would be GREATLY appreciated. :teeth: If you guys can't tell, I'm sorta freaking out:rolleyes:

I have recently stayed in the North and South Garden Wings and loved it both times. The rooms we had were in great condition and I loved the bathroom. I would go back in a heartbeat. I loved sitting by the pools and looking over the lake. The convenience of walking into the Magic Kingdom cannot be beat. I think you will love it.

Charm - well "charm" means different things to different people. Some people "hate" the CR, others love it.

Reviews - why don't you read the reviews section of this site. Lots of reviews.

Holiday Inn - No, not at all. Personally, I find most HI's to be "dumps".

Here are some pictures, why don't you look for yourself:

As for the WL, a family of 5 would not fit in a standard room. You would need the deluxe. I love WL, too. CR & WL are my fav resorts.

If you were to stay at WL, you would have to have 2 rooms or 1 deluxe room- pricey. CR is a monorail resort and is beachfront.

Thanks for the pictures link. I'm sure we are going to have a wonderful time, I was just wanting some first hand advice:earsgirl: . And it definately looks like I am in the right place:chat:

Absolutely LOVED the CR garden wing room we had last April!!!!! Upkeep is great, rooms are spacious and comfy, and of course...LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!!!

Request a first floor room so you'll have a patio---it is sooooo worth it!

Have a great time!!!

I've read reports that the North Garden Wing in particular needs work because it's been overbooked: Shades of Green guests have had to use it for the last year. However, i stayed at the South Garden last March and it was in terrific condition. You may luck out. I'd say give both wings the benefit of the doubt.

Also, be sure to ask for a first-floor. All first floor rooms have a patio. All other rooms lack balconies. If you luck out and get a room facing Bay Lake or the Water Bridge (you can request it), you're getting one of the prettiest, most isolated rooms in WDW. There's nothing like enjoying your early morning coffee listening to the loons while on your patio, or an after-dinner nightcap.

Punky,
If you should get a room that you don't like, just tell the front desk. Unless the resort is full, they will move you to a new room!::yes::

Disney really does "aim to please"!

Enjoy your stay!!
