I do not have a criminal record or conviction but I do have an arrest on my record.
How much will this affect my chances of getting in? Should I explain to the interviewer everything about why I was not convicted and why I was arrested for 2 hours?
Anyone have any experience with this and can help me out?? THANKS

I you read the questions they ask, they only ask if you have been convicted of a crime aside from minor traffic violations. If you have not been convicted of a crime, you circle "no." The background check only shows convictions.

Are u sure? I was arrested but later the case was dismissed. I heard arrests stay in your record so it will show up..?

Hey guys, I was in the same boat as many of you, so I called casting to ask a few questions. My situation was a little different, but long story short I was arrested 9 years ago for misdemeanor attempted theft. I was under the impression it was no longer on my record but called the local courthouse just to be sure, and sure enough its still there.

Anyways, I spoke with the college program office and they said after you accept your invitation and your arrival date you will be sent information on the background check, this is when you would disclose anything that needs to be disclosed. I was also told if by some chance you do disclose something that may disqualify you, they will tell you BEFORE you get there.

The best advice I can give is to disclose anything that may pop up, because lying looks much worse than telling the truth, especially if its a one time slip up. (in my case I was an idiot teenager about to graduate high school and I didnt want to wait in a line at walmart to buy a charger, great idea right?)

I haven't arrived yet, my date is aug 31st. I did however send information in not too long ago, but I haven't heard anything good or bad, I'm assuming my offer still stands.

I only ask, cuz my friend is in the same boat sortof. He had a case dismissed, was never charged, and its actually getting expunged. so he has no record. and he sent the paperwork and everything has been going smoothly since then. he arrives june 8th. and I guess no news is good news about it then, since you mentioned they will let you know before you get down there if they changed their mind. he doesnt want to get down there and get turned away.

Funkyflyswim - Please keep us updated about your friend. I'm curious about his experience once he gets down there, whether they run another background check.
PatrickJr17 - My DD also checks in on Aug. 31 and sent in the additional paperwork last week, and is also saying no news is good news.
