Hi there,

My family of four, DD10 DS 8 are visiting Universal in Feb. Unfortunately we are there over Presidents weekend, no way around this, we are on a cruise first and get back from the cruise Sat. We plan to visit the parks Sun, Mon and half day Tuesday.

We have been to WDW many times but i am clueless about this park. Thanks in advance for your help!

1. How much does it cost to park at Universal? We are staying offsite and will have a rental car but there is also a free shuttle from our hotel.

2. I just looked at the menu for Mythos, the prices look decent to me. Is this a good restaurant choice with kids? Where do people with kids like to dine? Not sure if we'll do lunch or dinner there.

3. Are the lockers difficult to use? I thought I read that somewhere. We will have a backpack and a cross body bag and hoping it won't be too much of pain to store them.

We are very excited about this visit to Universal but I am nervous as we will be there at such a busy time.

3. Are the lockers difficult to use? I thought I read that somewhere. We will have a backpack and a cross body bag and hoping it won't be too much of pain to store them. Follow the instructions carefully and you should be fine. Go all the way to the back of the lockers. People tend to congregate at the front of the locker bay and there are usually lots of empty ones near the back. You need to go to a kiosk first. There are many of them located throughout the locker bays. Try to find one that is empty or only has a few people in line

We are very excited about this visit to Universal but I am nervous as we will be there at such a busy time.

Try to get to the parks before they open and you'll have the best success.

Thank you for these answers! Are there lockers near every ride that you can't take bags onto? What do you get from the kiosks - the locks I am assuming. Are the lockers free?

Only the six attractions that do not allow carry on bags have free lockers out front. There are other lockers at the front of the park but those are all day lockers...those are not free.

since you are new to the darkside, suggest you read up at www.universalorlando.com for details.

get a feel for the park layout, rides/restrictions, food places and general knowledge of each thing in the park.

you hear about a ride but will learn more about it on the UO website.

read some of the trip reports to learn about other's days in the parks.
many include pictures.

hope you have a fun time!

When you get to the kiosk you'll scan your fingerprint. The locker gets assigned to you, and when you come back for your belongings after the ride, you use the same finger to verify the opening. Some of the scanners are more sensitive than others (I assume it's because they're older), but there are TMs available to assist you should you need it. One word of advice- based on both my own personal experiences and reading others' on here, be careful with the Hulk lockers. The TMs over there are very diligent about making sure that you really are getting into your locker and not someone else's :rotfl2: We were locked out of ours once and the TM asked us exactly what was in the locker before he would open it. Over at Dragon Challenge, no such thing happened. ( But I think we still got lucky at Hulk- I've read reports of people having to write out a list of what was in the locker and have the TM compare it to the actual locker items)

Thx for the heads up, this is great info!

We'll be there with you! BTW: it's "Mardi Gras" there on the Saturday and Sunday. It's on their website (bands, parade, etc)

Another locker tip is to take a picture of the number if you can. It helped us out so much, especially when someone had to open it up for us!

Oh and when registering/opening your locker, such as picking your language and typing in the locker number, use your knuckle rather than your finger. It went so much faster!

I agree with the knuckle.

But you aren't supposed to take a camera or phone on a ride that has lockers, so that picture isn't going to help much. :)

:) We got locked out of the MIB locker, and the attendant made us show a picture of DS that was on our camera locked in the locker, to prove it was ours. (I had my lanyard under my shirt where I had ID, etc, so those items weren't in my locker to show!)

Use your fingernail on the screen instead of your finger. A cast member told us that and it works!
