Liberty Tree Tavern, MK
Dinner Buffet
Decor: 4 (was in line with a tavern look and had both quiet corners and busy tables)
Food variety: 5 (buffet served at table with 3 meats, turkey, ham and flank steak strips various veggies, salad with strawberry vinagrette dressing and delicious rolls with honey butter and apple cobbler for desert)
Food taste: 3 to 4 - rolls with butter were delicious. Salad was delicious. Veggies and meat were warm but good (could've been a bit hotter and had a bit more seasoning on the meat but I'm from Louisiana and we season everything to the hilt). Dessert hit the spot.
Favorite Food item: rolls, salad, mashed pot. and dessert.
Least favorite: flank steak was just okay.
Characters - Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Pluto and those squirrels.
Character interaction: very good. There is a character in every seating area of the restaurant so you will get visited by everyone within the 1st 1/2hour to 3/4 hour your there and you may get visited twice. They were lots of fun.
Likelihood to return: 5
I love to eat here on every trip and highly recommend the experiece. First off, the rest. is in the MK and is one of the few places that you get a nice choice of veggies (believe we had mac/cheese, mashed pot., green beans, carrots and maybe squash or cauliflower on an occasional or two). The atmosphere is both relaxing and fun and the food really is a good deal for dinner. This is just one of those places that I look forward to visiting after a long day in the park and it always seems to hit the right spot when I'm there.

I would also make the same comments about Garden Grill (slightly different menu choices and instead of Minnie you get Mickey). Service has always been good there as well as the character interaction; however, it is being refurbished so it may not have the same type of buffet when it returns.

Comments: Very over rated. The food was okay, but not worth the price. The characters were very rushed and spent hardly any time at each table. The same goes for PSB. The character interaction was also poor, and the food was not as good as it was at CRT.

Comments: Best character meal hands down (and we've done all but 2). The atmosphere is great, the food is extremely good (even the catfish which I didn't think I'd like) and the character interaction is the best we've found. The characters all came by more than once and spent a lot of time at each table. It's also nice that the restaurant has booths, so it's easier to take pictures and more quiet than the other character meals.

Haven't had any Character Meals yet, just hoping to see Chef Mickey's or Cape May Cafe...

We love Chef Mickey's and we always have a wonderful time and a great dinner at this fun buffet. The decor is a 5... You are in the concourse of the Contemporary as the monorail glides overhead. The place is very colorful and very noisy, but that is part of the fun.

The food is usually fresh and nicely presented. I would rate it a 4 or 5 in taste and a 5 in variety. There are a lot of lovely salads and fresh veggies and fruits and I really appreciate that on vacation. The servers are always attentive and the characters are great. They come around to the table and pose for pictures. Sometimes they goof around with the kids -- this past trip we got a great shot of my friend's son with Minnie acting like she is biting his head off... We think it was a kiss she was giving him and the pictures are priceless! We always see the big stars here -- Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Chip and Dale. Sometimes Daisy is there too.

Our family's favorite is the teeny desserts. They have small pastries and desserts that are delicious and beautiful, too. My least favorite dish is their signature mashed potatoes. Everyone else raves about these but I won't touch them! They have parmesan in them and I HATE cheese!

Give Chef Mickey's a try! You can't beat the photo ops and the whole experience is classic Disney. We have a meal here every time we visit WDW.

Comments: It's a great way to start a vaca'n when you don't want to waste a ticket for only a few hrs in the parks!!! (Located in the Contemporary you don't need a park admission)

Comments: This was our second visit this year. Both girls loved it! Our oldest is a Cinderella fanatic and the younger one is following in her footsteps! It is a bit pricier than it was last year, but we will still return because the girls love Cinderella so much!

Comments: Can't wait to do it again. I was very worried as I had read so many mixed reviews, but we had a good experience. We are going to do it again next year and hopefully our youngest won't get sick on the next trip (as she has the last two!).

We've done CRT x 2, Princess Storybook, Crystal Palace, Donald's Breakfast - they were all very good but the best food was Gulliver's Grill in the Swan for Dinner.

Comments: April 2005. Was ok - but felt it was over-hyped and did not live up to expectations. With the exception of Cinderella the character interaction was rushed. Part of the problem was the characters arrived one after another with no break beginning the moment we sat down. So 15 minutes into breakfast, we had bairly eaten a bite, all the prinesses had come and gone, and the rest of the breakfast was anti-climactic.

Comments: Date of visit: Dec. 2002 - This was nice - I liked the costumes (old fashioned swim suits) that the characters wore. They did photo ops with Minnie against a painted backdrop at the front of the restaurant. The rest of the characters came by the table. Pretty good overall but not our best character meal.

Anything that made it extra special: The characters were dressed like 40's hollywood stars - Directors and agents and Minnie in a glamourous gown. We had the BEST character interaction ever. They also stopped and did a dance number every so often it was so cool. The restuarant has huge capacity and almost no one was there so we got tons of time with the characters. Goofy was a pin trader and we actually traded pins - that was a great memory! and Chip and Dale are so much fun when you get them riled up about each other.

Sorry - I know I am probably not much help on this thread because two of the meals that we enjoyed the most aren't around any more - but I do have to say thanks for creating this thread - you brought back some of my most magical memories! Pintrading with Goofy was so great. He actually brought out his personal pin collection from the back and offered me two pins for the one I had that he wanted (a Texas pin from our local Disney store) and he even guided me (as a novice pin trader) towards "good" pins to pick. It was really great! And Chip and Dale colored on our place mats. So whatever character meals you book - may you have as much pixie dust and as many special memories from yours as we do of ours!

Anything that made it extra special: My son, who was anxious about the characters when having to wait in line and formally meet them in the parks, found it really easy to interact with them in this more informal setting. The meal itself is very informal, so it is IMHO easier to do with small children.
Comments: Our most memorable part of our trip. Also, if it interests you, all you can drink beer and wine.

Character availablity (grade from 1 to 5): 5 Even though it was insanely busy when we were there, at about 9:30 I believe was the time, those 3 characters spent a lot of time with us, stealing DH's hat and putting it on the kid's head at the table next to us.
Likelihood that you would return or recommend to others (grade from 1 to 5): 5 Were returning our first morning of this trip!
Anything that made it extra special: Seeing the Polynesian is a plus if you have not visited there before, and Chip and Dale are something else!
Comments: It's been 3 years since we have been there so it's probably had changes made. However this has been a must do for my family since I was 7 years old and it's been enjoyable every time. It's a very safe character breakfast option.
