Please give me a list of hotels that are clean/bug free

thanks! DH said to stick it out and we booked WL for 7/6 nites.
I guess we'll sleep at hopefully a brand name hotel on our drive down...do u knwo where we might be --- we'd leave at 5am and stop for a break at 8am for breakfast. Then figure that's 8-845am, then back on the road and then drive until we're hungry? then figure we'll stop at 7pm to eat and find hotel to sleep at....is this a good plan????

Why are you worried about bugs in your hotel at DW, yet on your drive down you're willing to just stop at 7pm and just "find a hotel to sleep at?" It doesn't sound like you're worried about bugs for this night.

Disney does a good job of keeping the insect population down although even they can't keep the lovebugs out! They seem to be very proactive in prevention measures, but if there's a problem in a room they respond quickly so that it doesn't spread. You can check for bedbugs in the room when you first arrive, but overall, it's not something to worry about.

So true!

You get bugs in Florida - plenty of them. I find spiders in my (clean) bathtub all the time in the summer at home. I have never seen one at any Disney hotel we have stayed at. They obviously do a good job of keeping control of the bugs there!

I remember one time when we stopped for gas when the love bugs were swarming. You could hardly open the car door without getting lots of bugs inside the car. And of course, the car was covered with dead bugs.

I disagree! As I stated in my previous post - 20 years visiting, up to 6 times a year, no bed bugs encountered at WDW!! Get a grip, people!!

While you might not have personally experienced them, does not mean they were not there in other rooms or areas of the hotel. However as other have stated its not like Disney is totally infested. They had bed bugs and roaches but they deal with it.

The only bugs I have encountered in Disney World are Love Bugs all over the the bus stops. Truly grossed me out! But I found out that we just happened to visit during their two week mating season. During other visits we have not encountered them; and crossing my fingers that our upcoming visit is love bug free! (I wish I knew what their scientific name is!)

All on site hotels have been bug free inside the rooms when we have stayed.

That site is simply somewhere people can go and "report" if they had bed bugs. Anyone can post anything they want. They don't have to have evidence or proof that it actually happened. Someone peeved off about something else can post "OMG the hotel had bed bugs" even if there were none. As such, any information should be taken with a grain of salt... a big grain.

Thx you guys! On the way down there we'd stop at a brand name hotel hopefully. We booked the WL and it's $2k , rental car $800. ee gad.

If you are really, truly concerned you can buy this sleeping bag type thing that serves as a barrier between you and the bed ( it basically looks like giant condom). There are other measures you can take to avoid bringing home any unexpected souvenirs. Depends on how worried you are about it.

I would suggest that you request a room on a high floor. While Disney does a great job at pest control, as many others have stated, I have seen a bug (ONE bug) in my room in the decades I've been staying at Disney resorts. This was a harmless bug and we were on a ground floor room and had the sliding door open for a LONG time. It wasn't a big deal to us but if you are squeamish, request a high floor and don't open any windows or doors to the outside (if that's even possible!)

As for bedbugs, check your mattress as soon as you get to the room. If they are free and clear (and I bet it is!), then rest easy.

And I have encountered bed bugs in my travels (in a hostel in Italy) and we got bitten up but couldn't feel it as we slept. We didn't bring any bugs with us anywhere else either. So even if you happen to sleep with a bedbug, it's not going to kill you. BUT again, just check your mattress. At Disney - you will be FINE!!!

They were probably brought in by the most recent guest. Or if you flew, you may have brought them in your luggage. There are other bugs in the rooms/villas that are not bedbugs. Are you certain they were bedbugs? Where did you find them?

Yes, they were bedbugs, not brought in by me (did not fly). The pest control team came and confirmed as such and took care of things (which I don't feel the need to discuss). They were in the beds and it was disgusting.

You don't need to be OKW watch dog on this, they refunded me 2 nights.....that is admission of guilt.

Well, they can be a problem. But the team took care of them right away, correct? And they probably hitchhiked in on the last guests' luggage. If you drove and stopped at another hotel on the way, you still might have brought them in you luggage. They are so small, you just can't see them. Just the evidance that they are there.

Sorry you had to go through that. I'm glad Disney does have a team to take care of these things right away so they don't spread to the entire resort.

I didn't stop at another resort on the way down. They did take care of it quickly and efficiently but still it was disgusting and not something I expected from WDW. After viewing the mattress, it was obvious the infestation was long standing.

Nobody wants bedbugs in their hotel room. But they are what they are. If they could use the pesticides that really get rid of the bugs, these things might be extinct. They have found bed bugs in some of the nicest stores in New York City and some of the fanciest hotels all over the world. All they can do is get rid of them when they find them.

I agree with you, but when there are old eggs, shells and blood all over the mattress....there is no excuse for that. The maid should have discovered that. Her butt should be handed to her. That just shouldn't ever happen at WDW, just shouldn't.

Here is a link to do a self inspection for Bed Bugs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2vEMkZbCaI&feature=related I went through this last year at a orlando (off site hotel) and It wasn't pleasant. If you have an issue, let them know. It may be one room in the hotel or more. Ask to be moved to another building if you find them. I would guess the CM would have no issue with this. If they do, take it up the line. You deserve not to spend a $1,000 to take care of this afterwards.
