I was having the Disney blues.. and I can afford to use DVC points in combo with AP discounts to go. I have APS so park tickets are free, and don't mind ME at all so no rental car cost. My DD6 has a week off school.. but I cannot find a cheaper way than about 600$ to get there. (That is too much.)

I live near DTW could go any time between Feb 18th and Feb 26th. I would ideally like at least 4 solid days, but as many as 8 is fine.

I looked up busses, Trains, and Airfare.. and cheapest was Delta flying RT 170 PP. I don't mind 2 days of traveling even, if I could go.

There should be 3 but DH minght not go.
ANY cheaper trains than AM, any busses cheaper than 400$ RT for 2?

I WOULD love to go, but need it closer to 250$ MAYBE 300$ for the 3 of us to make it work. :(
I am affraid of priceline, as I need to book it the same time I book resort, and I don't want that screwed up...Maybe that is my only option. ?

I hate to say this, but...

you have waited very late for what appears to be a school break. How far are you willing to drive to get to an airport? Maybe going to another airport will help?

Maybe others can find a way for you, I hope so. If you need the total transportation cost to be $300 max to make the trip for the 3 of you, I have no idea of how you are going to do that between Feb 18 and 26th of this year.

Good luck.

Is that $300 return for all three of you?????? Air Tran has a cheap price coming back $84..but that alone is $300 for three people. So I must be reading you're question wrong :confused3

You want to go from Michigan to WDW for $ 100 per person R/T--$300 total.

I was going to make a sarcastic comment. Something like I'd like to win the lottery.

AAA fuel estimator says the R/T mileage from Detroit to Orlando is 2346. The estimated fuel cost for a Chevy Malibu ( I don't know what kind of car you drive) is $333.28. You're over your budget without even adding in tolls, overnight hotel room, allowance for wear and tear on your car etc.

Buses and trains are over your limit.

R/T airfare of under $300 per person is generally pretty good. R/T airfare of $200-$250 is generally a great deal. $100 R/T fares haven't been generally available in years. I don't think you can even get that kind of fare with a Spirit sale (once you add in baggage and seat reservation fees.)

Get on the email list for airlines that might work for you, particularly Allegiant and Spirit. Probably have to scrap Allegiant. I think they'll be back in Sanford at the time of your trip.

You said "help me find a way". Hitch hicking is the only way and obviously isn't an alternative.

You're going to have to be able to increase your budget (double it) and get still get very lucky.

edited to add---I drive a Prius. My estimated fuel cost would be $143.76. You can probably drive under your budget, if you own a very fuel efficient car.

Drive.

That's the only way you may be able to get from Detroit to WDW and back on/under budget.

Amtrak is the only passenger rail in the country. Bus fare is too high for you. Your airfare goal, if you mean round trip, is entirely unrealistic. I'd be surprised if Priceline could meet it, and you get no choice of flight times, connections, etc.

I missed the $300 was for ALL of them... Uh. NO! Sorry, but looking back over the OP why didn't you jump on the $170 RT on Delta.

(And have you even called about DVC rooms yet? It's a very busy time down there....)

I am not sure Priceline is even a good option. Priceline sells what the airlines can't... and if it's a school break season in Detroit, that may not be much!

Sorry, but I've been flying DTW-MCO in February/March for years, and there is no way you'll get that $100pp RT two weeks before a trip that happens to be over President's Day. In fact, Farecast's historical prices show the lowest price on the route *at all* was $120pp, back in December---and I think that was on Spirit, which charges you for luggage no matter how you bring it, carry on or checked. So, figure closer to $170pp. $100 was *never* realistic for that route at that time of year.

THANK you all for your info. I knew it was hopeful, not likely.

A friend stated they got bus fair under 50$.. I couldn't find anything even cheaper than flying.) I thought if there was a way Dis would find it. I thought maybe some random thing I had not thought of.

Yes DVC has rooms every night except 20th.. (I was suprised as well.)

Thanks anyway. If something comes up I will jump, but no crying if not.
And Yup.. I did know this was last minute... I think the snow got me :)

I found 3 RT airfare w/ my Spirit $9 fare club for a total of $328.20. (Total includes all taxes)

Flying out Feb. 23 - Mar. 2nd. Not your dates exactly, can you extend the trip a few days? Back in DTW by 9am on Wednesday if that helps at all.

$20 each way for luggage, if you can get your stuff in one suitcase only $40. If you can each do a back pack no charge. Must fit under your seat.

This is the 1st year we haven't flown that exact week and for the last 3 years we have gotten tickets w/ Spirit for under $100 a person. Usually less then that. We live in OH and fly out of DTW.

Does the $328.20 include the cost to join Spirit's $9 fare club? $20 for trial membership. Does it include seat selection fees? Spirit is lowering the baggage weight allowance to 40 lbs. $18 for a $9 club member to check a bag. My guess is they'll have to check at least 2 bags.

You found a great fare. However the total cost will still be over $400. Significantly over the OPs (unrealistic) budget.

THank you all. I could not come back past MOnd, tue at the very latest as DD6 would miss school.
I think it is not really possible.

From the bottom of my heart I appreciate the effort. AND welcome all thoughts.
.. Looks like I will have to wait until May trip, and maybe go to a local water park for a night or 2.
:)
