Hi,

i´m from Germany and tried to get the Video but failed. The I wrote them an email to the DVC today:

PHP:
Hi,

is it possible as a German resident to become a member of the DVC?
Please sent me further information about the payment methods, fees and anything else important.
Thanks

after only one hour I got the following answer:

PHP:
Dear Renate,

Thank you for your interest in Disney Vacation Club!
Unfortunately, we are not registered in your country of residence and are unable to provide any information pertaining to Disney Vacation Club membership at this time. We apologize for the inconvenience, but look forward to speaking with you the next time you are vacationing at the Walt
Disney World® Resort in Florida!

Thank you and have a magical day!
The Disney Vacation Club Family

can anyone explain the reason or the backround to me please?
At the moment it sounds pretty stupid for me :badpc:

I don't know the answer to your question, but do have an extra book & video that I would be more than willing to send you....

If you'd like them, feel free to PM my with your address.....

I believe DVC is prohibited from soliciting sales in places where it's not registered. They are registered in Florida, so they would be able to give you any information, up to actually signing papers, while you are in WDW. The cryptic response is due to legalities.

I believe jarestel is correct. Perhaps you could get a PO box in a nearby country that's reigtered. ;) Good luck!

People from the UK can buy so I guess it isn't an international issue exactly. I would think the same should apply to Germany.
Thats too bad. Maybe if you have family in the UK or US you could use there address, or maybe more is involved.
What if you paid it up front and didn't finance it, I wonder it that would change.

You are not alone. I live in the state of Washington, USA, and DVC isn't registered here either. I can't talk to DVC about purchasing an add on, even though I am already a member. I had to buy my DVC through resale. Resale is a good option, and you can gather information from different places.

Good luck!

Kim has a good point, resale is a great option. You get about the same for less. Sorry I didn't think of it. The homepage of this board seems to list a lot of current sale prices of points that they have for purchases.
I'm thinking of adding on from them myself.

Your Video won't work in Germany. Their TV systems are PAL/SECAN, while ours is NTSC. The systems are not compatible.

NTSC=National Television Standards Committee (North America, Japan, Korea, Phillipines & parts of South America), 525 lines screen resolution.

PAL = Phase Alternating Line (Used almost everywhere in the rest of the world) 625 lines screen resolution

SECAN = Sequential Color Memory (used sparingly around the world, found in France, parts of Greece, Eastern Europe, Russia, Africa and a few other parts of the world)

Just FYI

You may be able to initiate a purchase while you are vacationing in Florida. Sometimes as long as you start the process there, you can then finish it up via mail, etc. even if your country/state is not registered. Check in at SSR for a tour and ask a guide while you are there. Good luck!

Just FYI

Most all VCRs sold in the UK over the last five years or so are dual standard playback. They can't record to NTSC, but can play back pre-recorded tapes.

As UK and Germany have the same TV standards and same mains voltage, I would assume same VCRs are sold in Germany too.

Thank you for your replies.

You might try calling DVC. One thing I noticed when I was looking at the site are legal disclosures for Florida, Hawaii (I belive) and the UK.

What strikes me is that the UK is called out. I beleive that people in the UK can buy from the UK, but others have to be on site. I have read that Disney can only sell over the phone to certain provinces in Canada.

I think you can anyone can buy if they are onsite at DVC regardless of where their home is, but please check it out with Disney directly.

Renate- Very cool trip report and pictures. Thanks for sharing. I have only be the Walt Disney world Florida, so it was fun looking at the other places :)

Good luck.
