I am planning a big trip for OCTOBER 2013. I own at BCV, April UY.

I want a BCV transfer so I can book for next October at 11 months (this November).

Question: Can I do a transfer of ANY current BCV UY, and then once I have the points just bank them into my April 2013 UY so they become part of my 2013 points?
I know that I need BCV points to use them at 11 months, but I forget if the points retain their original UY or if they become part of my UY once I own them?

Thanks!

anybody? I have a friend who is willing to transfer me points, there are just some questions as to whether I can bank them. They are current year BCV points, Feb UY. So they expire for him in February 2013. If he transfers to me, can I bank them into my April 2013 UY?

Thanks!!

Transferred points can be banked, but will still retain their original Use Year (month) and Home Resort status.

If you accept a transfer of BCV 2012 UY points, they may be banked into the 2013 UY and may be used along with your own BCV points for reservations.

Points with a February, 2012 UY may be banked into the 2013 Use Year but will still expire on January 31, 2014. They will not show in your online account as they are tracked separately. If you will need those points for a stay beyond 1/31/14 you might have your friend transfer his 2013 points into your account and you can bank them into the 2014 Use Year. Those points may be transferred right now since you are both in the 2012 UY. Members can transfer points from their current and next Use Year.

Good luck! :)

Thanks Doc! So the easiest way to look at it is that I basically take ownership of his points, but the points themselves never leave their UY and usage rules.

Correct! But like Doc said, these won't show up online. That seems to be a part of the process that throws a lot of people off. Out of sight so they lose track. Always best to use transferred points first when booking trips whenever possible.

Thanks Griz. Just to clarify, I know this is probably obvious but since the points don't show up on the member site I would assume that I cannot make any online reservations using transferred points? I don't mind calling, I plan to use them 11 months out so an extra hour shouldn't be a problem. Just want to make sure I understand.

Correct again. You will have to call MS to make reservations utilizing transferred points.
