please explain one transfer per year--UY?

is it one transfer per calendar year Jan-dec, one per use year--meaning if I have a sept UY, I could have a transfer in July 2010, and then again in October 2010? Or is it one transfer regarding the points transferred into my account--so one transfer of 2010 UY points, one transfer of 2011 points, but, in theory, these could be a month apart, as long as they were 2010, then 2011 points? thanks, Elaine

It is one transfer, in or out, of your UY. For example, you can transfer in 2010 UY points and that would count as your one transfer for your 2010 UY.

It is not when you transfer, but what UY the points are that are either transferring in or out. Well, at least that was the way that it was explained to me.

Matter of fact, I was told that I could do two transfers in the same call. I could actually transfer some of my 2010 UY points and 2011 UY points and it would count as my one and only for each of those UY's.

IT is actually slightly different from that, it is one transfer within the time frame of a use year, for April that would be 4/1 to 3/31 of the following year. Yes you can transfer more than one years points in a single transfer.

Hmmm, that's interesting. I went back and reread the Home Resort Rules and Regulations and it does not refer to points when talking about a transfer.

During a given Use Year, only one (1) Transfer per Club Member or Club membership, either as Transferee or Transferor, will be permitted.

So if I wanted to transfer my 2011 points to 2 different people. Could I do it this way. I have a February UY. On January 31, 2011 I transfer half my points to John and then on February 1, 2011 I transfer the other half of my 2011 points to Jane. I have used two transfers one for my 2010 UY and one for my 2011.

However, I would use only one transfer for 2010 if on January 31, 2010 I transferred my remaining 2010 points and half of my 2011 points to John and transferred nothing to Jane. And I still have my transfer available for 2011.

Did I get that right?

LOL !! Please understand I am not laughing at you but at the grey areas (for lack of better words) that transfers bring up, it's especially fun when asking MS to clarify as often different CMs will give different responses ;-) Once when we did a transfer the member transferring to us got a different explanation of what points could / could not be transferred pertaining to their UY and ours compared to what CM I spoke to said so we had to get a supervisor involved to clear things up.

I think where alot of confusion comes in is the same UY to same UY detail : In you first statement I think you are correct in that on Jan 31 2011 you are still in your 2010 UY so transfer to John counts as your 1 transfer for 2010 UY and then on Feb 1 2011 transfer to Jane counts as your 1 transfer for 2011 UY.

I'm thinking you are correct in your second statement as well but if I'm not mistaken, for John it would use his transfer privilege for both his 2010 and 2011 Use Years.

Hopefully someone here with more experience in the art of transfer will be along to confirm.

I did a transfer of points for 2 use years in one call. I transferred 2009 points and 2010 points. The call was made during my 2009 use year, obviously, because 2009 points would have expired if I were calling during my 2010 use year.

This is how it was explained to me... and I've called several times to MS to verify before I posted a trade offer. By the CMs I spoke with, it goes by your own UY. I can have one transfer IN or OUT based on each UY. So, let's say we are looking at my account with a June UY. I could call and transfer out my 2010 points to one person and my 2011 points to another person. That would use up all transfers IN or OUT. Alternatively, I could transfer my 2010 points to someone and they could transfer points in to my 2011 UY. With this option, according to several CMs at MS, the points I receive would just have to be "2011 points" for the person who transfers them to count as my one 2011 transfer. It does not matter if we have matching UY's. With this trade, both my account and the person with whom I am trading would use up both the 2010 and 2011 transfer.

You would need to match use YEAR (2010 to 2010 and 2011 to 2011) but the MONTH of the use years would not need to match (e.g. a June, 2010 account could receive Oct., 2010 points).

Right... Sorry if I was misunderstood in my post. Since UY is expressed as a month (June UY, August UY, etc.), I thought it would be clear.

Unfortunately on a portion of the supervisiors are fully up in the more complex transfer policies so a call to QA is the best way if you end up with bad info. Suposedly they are working on clearifying the language, but I am not holding my breath.
